Tisk tisk tisk to those that still believe they're trying to make us better, instead of keeping us sick for astronomical profits when done on a mass scale.

not a fan of medication legal or not but it's a business. Pharmacists have their own families to feed too. Doctors and psychiatrists write the prescriptions and get a kickback, they also have families to feed. The only thing to do is be proactive decades ahead of time with educating all the young ones regarding the industry. Are there people out there who know exactly what they are taking, done their research ahead of time, and have been in control from the start? Sure there are so i don't want to offend those who feel these type of medications have helped them with their life.

Ummm....guys, you DO know that we are unable to negoitate better prices, for examle through government programs, right? Like to the tune of $750 B, yes Billion dollars it is estimated by the GOVT itself WE, the taxpayers could save. The pharms PAC's and OUR representatives in bed together (and thanks to GW Bush) for supporting this outrageous agreement).
You DO know this, right????

I love to pay lower prices just like the next person but the politicians in Washington shouldn't have a say so over anything in the medical field.
The reason our prices are higher than the rest of the world is because everything is better: pharmaceuticals, operating rooms, hospital, equipment, and personnel.
We have the best people: chemists that do the research and make the medication, Engineers that design and build the equipment, pharmacists that distribute the medication, doctors that perform the surgery, and nurses that take care of the patients. Do you want some snake charmer with a rusty scalpel working on you or a family member?
If these people didn't make good money (not your definition of good, but theirs) there wouldn't be no incentive for them to go to schools for years to get to that level.
The govt should have as much to do with healthcare as they should with telling us how big of a drink we can consume or fixing the BCS System.
We're not Sweden.

Crow,
You are seriously misinformed. I am a physician. We don't get kickbacks. I've never been paid for a prescription in 20 years. I am on call all weekend. I'll have to answer calls for 3 straight days from people looking for free advice and free prescriptions. If you wake me up at 3 am through my answering service to ask for Vicodin, I have to return your call or I'm a bad doctor. Guess how much I get to bill for my time and effort. ZERO! But you can sue me based on the info I provide. Drug reps aren't even allowed to drop pens or note pads at my front desk.
The health care system is f'd up and I'm tired of doctors being blamed.

the way i understand it, if you are not getting weekly blowjobs from those hot little pfizer reps that come into the office peddling their bullshit drugs, then this whole doctor thing you're involved with, you're not doing it right.

I've heard that approximately 66% to 70% of the time, doctors prescribe a drug without even knowing for sure if it will do any good. I only read that from one source though.

Just have to point out that knowing "for sure" is Not absolute 100% certainty... You load a gun with bullets and pull the trigger, will the gun fire "for sure" OR do you expect it to fire and realize it may not?
The human body is the most complex organism on earth. The drugs prescribed for me are what should work to make my life better.
Death and taxes... That is all that are for sure.
Fact is doctors prescribe drugs 100% of the time without knowing "for sure" they will help. They use their best judgement and experience. That satisfies me.
