Not many up here in Maine. It was making very adroit Arial acrobatics it is relatively small for the hawk family of raptors about the size of a blue jay....
Gave me something cool for today's memory.

@nature1970
I figured there would be more of them in Maine. They have them here. Once on a hike I happened upon a wildlife photographer with a big ass lens snapping pics of one. Gave me some binoculars to check it out.

We got a pair that nests in an old building in Utica.NY.Why would Falcons nest in a Broke-down Rust Belt urban wasteland? They loves Pigeons!!
Yeah, they do well in urban environments because of the pigeons. Good stuff, 666! I love raptors of all shapes and sizes. The big boys get the love but perrigrine falcons, kestrels, etc are very cool in their own right.

Last time I checked it was about 10 years ago we had 4 recorded pairs . In Portland. But up here never see them. A bit larger chicken hawk are by far much more common.
Falconary to hunt small game and birds is allowed in Maine. Possibly this someone's escaped pet. It seemed to after sparrows didn't habe a phone to take a picture

I see 4-5 bald eagles every day. They will kill your small dogs if given the chance. Majestic to watch them catch a fish at the surface or fly by with a snake in their talons. Not so nice to see them snatch baby geese and ducks.
Watching them eat dead carp or roadkill takes away from their majestic image.

Bro, I was watching one a couple few months back. I have a smallish cocker spaniel about 21 pounds. I made her go in the house. This thing looked like it would've had no problem snatching her up. This thing looked like it could snatch ME up. I see them often enough but I really had a vantage point to get a glimpse at his wingspan. He was big, even for eagle standards.
