That is even worse expense.He will not appeal because he is a coward.  He wants to die as soon as possible.  I think we should accommodate his wishes ASAP.

&#xD;&#xA;I think it&#x27;s substantially more expensive on death row even if he doesn&#x27;t appeal. I read that Federal executions amount to a whopping total of 16 in 80 years. &#xD;&#xA;Toss him in a super max prison where he is in solitary for life. Brain would squirming lie a toad. &#xD;&#xA;You&#x27;re right though, there was little or no option for the jury to sentence anything less than potassium chloride.

[/Quote]Up until a few decades ago, the death penalty would be carried out within months, or sometimes even weeks, of the verdict and sentencing.Justice delayed, is justice denied.

I agree with this. Does anyone want to suggest he&#x27;ll be in a better prison situation while he awaits the results of appeals, if he decides to appeal ? I&#x27;m really surprised that a Massachusetts jury would do this, but I sure as hell respect the decision. Convicted to die--good; now put him in a hell hole until we get to kill him.

I said, because I think he is a coward.  He can&#x27;t stand the thought of living in a cell for the next half century or so.  He also must die to be considered a true Muslim Martyr, correct?  His court appointed lawyers will want to appeal.  Can&#x27;t he simply deny any appeal attempt by firing his legal team?  That&#x27;s what McVeigh did I believe.

an appeal is probably automatic in a federal death penalty case.  he might be able to stop the appeals process if he really wanted to but it would be easy.
