It's not that hard, people.  Protect yourself.  Don't go out of your way to kill people.

This guy was a weirdo, no doubt. But when you darn with the bull, you get the horns.
Bottom line....don't break into people houses.
This is the kind of stuff that happens when 2 idiots converge.
Why is it that when something like this happens, the "victims" are always painted in such a good light?  They were going places, good people, etc.  Uhh, they were breaking into peoples homes.
Just a messed up story all around.

He shot them a total of NINE times and taunted them as they died. He has a right to protect himself, but he subdued them and THEN shot them again and again and killed them.  It's on audio for goodness sake.  

He waited a full day before calling the police.

He must of thought what he was doing was legal or he wouldn't have recorded.

His house has been broken in before and he was probably very vengeful.


If he didn't record, maybe shot a few less times and told the police he was scared there most likely wouldn't be a trial against him.

I agree with all that Adamjoe says but I do not think that this situation is the best application of those thoughts. There is protecting yourself and family and then there is essentially plotting out murders and acting like you live in the wildwest.

He did not invite the teens to break in his house to take his stuff.  It had happened several times before, and he involved the cops to try to stop it.  He installed surveilance to help stop it.  

The guy is a gun owner, and had guns stolen.  He knows who it was that stole his guns.  When that person comes back into your home again, you shoot to kill.  In the moment you don't have the time to determine if they want to or are capable of killing you.  You shoot them.

I agree that the "finish shots" might be a bit over the top... at least to read about it as we all did.  But we were not there.  You see a teen bleeding to death on your floor, and you realize no medics are going to help that person, the humane thing might just be to give a finish shot.

Bottom line is that the stupid teens broke in with masks and gloves.  They deserved to be shot, and shot dead.

You are correct. And I'll add that drug addicted parents who let their drug addicted children loose to break into people's homes on Thanksgiving Day are not worth a crap either. No winners here, only losers.

I never root for anyone to be killed.......but I don't feell remorse for anyone that took their chances & lost.....

That "finish' shot is technically called MURDER.

Just because this guy was waaaay smarter than your heroes doesn't mean he did anything wrong. They broke into his home. He killed them legally. How many shots he fired or what he said means nothing. This jury, this prosecutor, this losing mentality is why we are the country we are today.

Hutch is 100% right imo. The sentence might be a little on the heavy side but who knows what else this nut did to draw them into his kill zone.

Children in the house then empty the magazine for all I care...not the case.
