Beginning Friday, bettors will be able to place their wagers at DraftKings’ first retail location in Mississippi.
DraftKings has partnered with Scarlet Pearl Casino in D’Iberville to remodel the resort’s existing PRL Bar into a multi-screen betting and social destination for sports wagering.
The new DraftKings at Scarlet Pearl Sportsbook will offer a customer experience that includes the ability to wager on dozens of sports. In short-order, patrons also will be able to take advantage of live, in-game betting at three windows, offering them a variety of ways to place their bets.
DraftKings plans to introduce on-site kiosks and an on-premise mobile app once regulatory approval come through.
“We are excited to introduce DraftKings, a new way to game for our current and future guests,” Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort CEO LuAnn Pappas said. “Our collaboration with DraftKings is an opportunity for us to continue to set high standards on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and give our players a new home for sports betting.”
The DraftKings venue could be the first of many retail locations across the United States where sports bettors can wager on NFL games, soccer and college sports.
Sports betting partnerships and deals are coming fast and furious since May when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled sports wagering legal.
For example, in the last two weeks:
- FanDuel announced a partnership with the National Hockey League which will provide customers with exclusive league content plus real-time data and opportunities for VIP experiences at various league events including the NHL All-Star Game and Winter Classic. The sportsbook and sports fantasy gaming company also will receive the exclusive right to advertise itself as the NHL’s official fantasy sports destination as well as an official sports-betting partner of the league.
- FanDuel also made a deal with NHL team the New Jersey Devils which will put the company’s logo on home ice at the Prudential Center.
- Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Prudential Center, entered a multi-year agreement with the Caesar’s Entertainment Group to promote it sports betting book and mobile app. This came on the heels of Harris Blitzer saying it will open a branded sports lounge also at Prudential Center with bookmaker William Hill.
- The NHL became partners in sports betting with MGM Resorts International, agreeing to a multi-year data sharing and marketing deal.
DraftKings also set up shop in New Jersey in August when it launched a sports-betting app which quickly garnered nearly a 70 percent market share of New Jersey’s mobile sports betting business in September.
And FanDuel’s top-performing retail book at the Meadowlands brought in $4.3 million in revenue in September.
