I bought a logitech z506 5.1 speaker system for the music on my laptop. They are the crappiest sounding speakers I've ever heard, despite all the good reviews about them.
I am assuming my laptop isn't running them all in 5 channels or whatever it is, but cant find anything on my computer to adjust settings, not even a graphic equalizer. On most songs the music is louder than the vocals...
The set came with a couple of cables to plug into what I'm assuming is a desktop, but as Im on the lappy I only have one input so cant use those. Im using the single-no-mates cable.
Can one of you tecchie-type guys help out please? I cant cope with crappy sounds...

No tech guy,but I would try If not a Mac, control panel-> sounds?
And sure your wire out to speakers is plugged into the correct output, maybe headphone jack would produce limited sounds could be a problem? also the Volume is maxed on the toolbar icon next to your clock?
Possible the laptop can't handle the advanced system as well.

From what i've experienced with those cheap logitech systems you usually get 4 or 5 speakers and a sub. From there all the speakers attach to the sub and one of the speakers is like a hub for everything. SInce i'm sure you have the same system, the hub with the volume and everything goes to the sub with the special connector. Then you have 3 head phone like jack connectors. orange, black and green. If you can only plug one of them into the laptop make sure to only use the green one, don't even plug the orange and black one in.
They also make an adapter where you can plug all 3 in and have only one output, that is most for tv a/v systems though, but they might have one with a computer connection.
Sorry if that was confusing but hope it helps.
