Not to justify this atrocious murder, but, what kind of a Good Samaritan asks for a reward of any sorts? Say goodbye and leave. Most likely he would still be alive. If asked by someone if I want a reward I always say "just pass it on the next time you see somebody else in trouble".
Couple months ago I saw an abandoned car on the highway and a couple walking. They were out of gas. Took them to the next exit for gas and DROVE THEM BACK.
This is how I live my life. At age 59 maybe I am pushing my luck. Cannot envision living my life any other way.
Regards to the family. May you find justice and peace.

I agree that its pretty sh*tty to ask for the $20 but since they killed him instead of paying him, I can't hold it against him asking for the cash. Who knows how bad off he may have been?
Its just a sign of the times, I'm waiting for Scal to chime in here, he's nowhere to be found or any number of other morons on this site that blame the caucasian for everything. I'm sure these 2 were just so oppressed, no option to get an education, or maybe they had no desire to ever contribute to society...
Fkn animals is what these 2 are, go ahead and try to make an excuse for them. Guy helps them and they kill him, complete low lifes. I'd like to say a lot more but I'll certainly get attacked worse than the killers...

There is still much good in people. I dropped a Credit Card on the floor tonight and a Black dude pointed it out immediately. Thank you Sir was all I said. He was fine. I was fine. We both smiled and for a moment at least all was A-OK in the Solar System.

I was in San Diego over the weekend. Me and a buddy on a golf trip. We're on Coronado Island Saturday and we're walking along and on top of a hedge is a Fed Ex drivers lanyard with all his ids on it. We were going to call Fed Ex and drop it off at the golf shop where we were playing. As we're getting into car, a Fed Ex truck pulls up across the street - it's not him but we give the ids to the driver. Robbing him and killing him never crossed my mind... Or selling it to him. We just gave it to him like a normal human being should.

Will never forget the time I was walking toward my car after grocery shopping. Wallet on the parking lot tar filled with about $700 cash, credit cards, drivers license, SS card, pretty much everything you can't afford to lose.
Returned it to the customer service desk and they immediately knew it was a regular customer. She got the call from the Grocery Store and all was returned to a very, very, appreciative woman.
She was a single mother trying to make ends meet. Living from paycheck to paycheck (she had just cashed) this wallet was all she had between her & her kids and the street gutter.
Got a telephone call from this woman thanking me a thousand times and crying her eyes out for her children. So happy to get the wallet back fully intact. My answer to her was to simply pay it forward to the next person she saw in trouble and to keep thinking positively.
It doesn't matter how many times you get knocked down in life.
What matters is how many times you are willing to pick yourself back up off the floor and fight on.

Great story Goose. I love this philosophy.
I also agree with you that there is a lot of good in people, it's just that stories like this make it seem otherwise. Positive stories don't sell as much as bad ones; otherwise, the media would be reporting more of them.
