The Definition of a TROLL

1a. 

One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a message board with intention of causing maximum disruption and argument.

1b.

One who attacks and flames other members of a message forum while not contributing anything worthwhile other than their own biased opinion. 

Trolls often go by multiple names to avoid getting banned

An aesthetically repulsive person, often has terrible social skills, usually a 60ish-year-old male/female/they/them...who cannot understand that most people want nothing to do with them

To fish by dragging bait behind a boat

COMMON EXAMPLES:

Long term troll:

They wait for the fun to begin, acting as a noob.  These people, to be frank, usually have no life and only one way out and choose to spread dissent

Sophisticated troll:

This type causes annoyance, they will parody the members and see how much they can get over their heads

Faker troll:

A clever bugger who acts really stupid and argues incoherently for short spans to get an hour/days long response

Ooh, I enjoyed being the sophisticated troll on Twitter. I’ve always enjoyed bullying the bullies, and clowning on bullies using their own tactics against them. 

Then after a few years on Twitter I found myself in enough fights I was miserable for a few hours during a few days a week. So when I got suspended for calling a certain trollish public figure a bad word, I never reopened my account. It’s been about a year now and man, my quality of life is so much better. Twitter is a truly awful place.
