I went about a month with out much happening in my job search. I knew that the gap since my last job and not working in my field for a long time were BIG problems. I always felt that if I could just sit down and talk with someone I could really sell myself, however I was getting zero chances to do this. I had to take a step back reevaluate and address these problems the best that I could in order to have any success landing interview opportunities.
I called one of the guys I had been doing some internet contracting work for told him the problems I was having and ask him if it would be OK to put down that I had been doing contract work for him for the last three years. It is just more like spot projects here and there that I get paid very very little on but at least on a resume it looks like I have been doing something now and they never ask you how much you are getting paid and I doubt they would call him since he is not one of my references.
This last week things really started to pop. I had four interviews. One of the interviews went so well I was asked to come in for a second interview. Got some really good feedback from a recruiter regarding a 12 month contract position. I also have an interview setup for Friday.
Its hard to believe adding a contract position really made this big of a difference but I know a resume with nothing listed for work during the last three years is a huge problem.

Hutch whats your opinion on personally delivering your resume?
Not sure if I would be pissing people off or not by disturbing their work day. I think I would have a better chance if they saw the handsome looking professional guy that I am from the start instead of some random resume in a stack.
