Hi, bit of an awkward question but I guess this is as good a place as any to discuss.
Has anyone ever stepped up to use a urinal and noticed a bit of a wet spot/patch just in front/underneath? Essentially this might seem like bad aim/splash back but not in practice, rather the aim of the main volume might on be on target but there might be a bit of dripping/leakage from the head at the same time.
I must admit I've been guilty of this in the past but I'm not sure how to control it. At least I know I'm not the only one as I have stepped up to urinals with a small wet patch/puddle underneath before.

As for the puddle in front of the urinal, my belief is that it is mostly from guys like myself, who are getting older.
When I am done peeing, first thing I do is place 2 fingers under my sac, slightly towards the taint area, and press there firmly. This squeezes out a little more flow. Then I need to 'shake it' at least 20 times to get the rest of the urine out. Only then can I safely put my buddy back into my pants.
Before I discovered this technique, I would have major drippage both in front of the urinal, and in my pants.
Hopefully this explains this serious dilemma of urine puddling in front of the urinal.
You're welcome

Hey guys, appreciate the feedback so far. Should probably clarify a couple of points, noting a bit of a theme about distance from the target.
The majority of the volume (c. 98%) is voluminous and hits the target at great velocity, such that I actually have to stand a decent distance back to avoid splash back.
However, the puddle (use of that word is probably an exaggeration, it's more a wet patch) is caused not by the splashback or being too far from the target, but the dripping/leaking from my "bat" that goes straight down to the floor.
Does that make sense?

The golden rule here is that no matter how much you shake and twist your wink, you will still get a drip or two of excess pee-pee on your clothing once you tuck said wink back away.
What you need to do is always wear underwear. Free-balling is going to cost you over time with driplets on the inside of your pants.
But if you plan on free-balling, I would say the Joe Biden rule is a good one to follow. Simply stand at the urinal in a pre-snap defensive back position. After initial flow is finished, continue to stand for another 45-60 seconds as if you have bladder problems and you haven't been able to get out a drop in two months. After this remove one Kleenex from your left pocket, wipe the head of your wink three times gently with your left hand. Inspect for any residue left behind and then dispose of the Kleenex in the nearest trash receptacle after zipping away your wink, of course.
When it comes to bathroom etiquette always keep in mind: If there's blood in the stool, well that ain't cool.
