US Senate Question...

Hi All,

Thinking about possibility both Georgia 

senate seats go democratic and democrats

take control of senate with Harris tiebreaker vote.

Thoughts on this happening?

I ask because thinking stock market will sell off if this happens and considering selling some stock?

All I can say is that if the Democrats win the United States is forever finished. 

There is a real possibility of both Senate seats going to the Democrats.  As for the markets tanking there is a common misconception that stocks do better under Republican controlled politics.  Hogwash and Balderdash. 

Certain market sectors can take huge losses for sure.  I can foresee Biden & Co slapping more regulations on big oil companies and driving down the oil stocks.  But that gives way to opportunity in other sectors such as solar and wind power.  It's up to investors to make the adjustments required to keep their portfolios healthy.

Even if the Democrats get 50 seats in the senate, they won't implement a very liberal agenda because  Democrats on the whole are not that liberal.  There are some very liberal congressmen and a couple of senators, but the majority of the party is as about as liberal as Ronald Reagan was. And there are a couple of senators (Manchin in WV) who are practically Republicans and it only takes 1 senator to veto something because of the 50/50. 

If the Dems pick up another 5 senate seats in 2 years, then you could see some more liberal agenda.

Remember, the stock market has done extremely well under democrat leadership.  Big business controls both parties....

This has been addressed a couple of times in the investment forum. 

The key thing is not the President (usually).  In fact, there is a slight correlation for the markets doing better under a Democrat President than a Republican President.  

The key thing is more the makeup of Congress.  

When both houses are Democrat the S&P averages around 10%. 

When both houses are Republican the S&P averages around 13%. 

However, when the houses are split the S&P averages around 17%

The markets ‘like’ the checks and balances to be in place.  

Those numbers are off the top of my head.  But they are fairly recently off the top of my head — so they are very close.  

But you can easily look it up.  If you cannot find it and are interested — I can post a link on it later. 

Either way, I do not advocate ‘timing’ the market.  Unless, you have a very solid game plan I place. 

Also, the markets are very complex and dynamic. So, even this criteria should not be used in a vacuum. 

i guess i FINALLY, did something right.  The winter and spring of 2018-2019 i spent more than 5 months in the V.A. with 2 of my toes getting amputated.  During that time i spent a lot of time on my laptop on a filipina dating site.  I hit the jackpot and in august of 2019 i moved  to bum-phuck P.I. about 4 hours south of Manila.  a bit of an adjustment waking up to cows phucking mooing and roosters crowing at 5am.  My fiance is 56 but that's ok.  I'm 68 and in poor health  I don't think i would even trade her in for 3 20 somethings.  I did ask her if I could move in 3 20 somethings but I was told I'm having trouble keeping up with 1 56 year old.  Now, Democrats are gonna screw up anything and everything. I got out when the going was good.  I had a chance to come here when I reenlisted in the Navy in 1979.  It was either the P.I. or Fallon, Nv.  Like a real dumbshit I chose Fallon.  Didn't do my homework.  When I got to Fallon only 1 casinoand that casino didn't have a sportsbook.  Reno was the closest casino and that was an hour away.  Couldn't do that everyday but you can bet your ass I spent almost every weekend there.  My daddy was the smartest man I ever knew.  He had a saying that I remember to this day. "Boy, you can find the most despicable, vile human being  and he could be a republican (not my attitude about Mr. Trump but some folks might disagree) and you can have the most lilly-white Democrat which Joe SURELY doesn't qualify and I will guarantee you, boy, that the Republican will make a better President than the fuckin' Democrat.  I'm just glad "POPS" ain't here to witness this shit.  Just curious:  How does Joe live in that mansion of his only drawing a senator's salary.  I guess being in bed with China for almost a half-of-century might help, dont you.  I'm gonna miss you Mr. Trump.

Sorry for the screw up.  I guess I must have hit the "submit" button twice.  Anyway, I'm still fired up about what happened at the Capitol Building today. Premium tv channels here in the Philippines are hard to come by.  As you can probably figure out, Im a FOX news kinda guy.  About 4 or 5 days before New Years, there was a reminder that Fox news was going off the air due to some contractual problems.  WTF am I gonna do?  CNN isn't a real option, that'sfor damn sure.  When I'm spanning the channel I sometimes (rarely I might add) stop and watch the Italian gentleman and the colored fella.  Their names escape me at the moment.  Oh yes, Cuomo and Don Lemon.  I was subjected today  to watch those goddamn two.  They rant and rant how despicable Mr. Trump is.  NEVER mentioning 1 damn time all the riots and burning and looting America was subject to this past summer.  I bust my ample gut laughing when a CNN field reporter made the statement that the riots were basically "PEACEFUL" when in the background Minny was burning to the ground and the looting was widespread.  PEACEFUL.  I don't think so.  I watched CNN all day.  I didn't see one "Good Ol' Boy" leave the Capitol carrying a television down the steps or even one fire.  All I heard was Mr. Lemon and the Italian fella bitch all day.  Couldn't they, at least, mention how despicable it was how the coloreds and the "black lives contingent" destroyed national monuments in american history and torched them to the grounds.  I long for the days Walter Cronkite and Huntley and Brinkley were reporting the news.  I had my fiance call the cable company (my command of the filipino language is atrocious) and change cable companies so starting tomorrow, i'm back to Tucker, Hannity, and Laura.  I almost forgot to mention I have constant problems with diarrhea and if I watch the Italian fella (Cuomo and Mr. Lemon) water just pours out of my bunghole like Niagara Falls after just a few minutes.  Enough of already.

With Joe in office and his cozy relationship with China, does that mean we Americans have to learn to eat with chopsticks.  To quote the funniest man that ever graced this earth, Richard Pryor.  "Chopsticks?  Nig--er-s drop a pound of meat with a knife and fork."
