Oh Magic Johnson, you've exposed yourself too early. "Magic and his group are interested in buying the Clippers..." Sounds too convenient when I give this hypothetical scenario: Magic and Donald's mistress are close friends. Magic becomes aware of Donald's (from the audio what I would call MODERATE at worst) racism. Asks mistress to record Donald secretly to "get her cut" ($500,000 for selling the audio), ... 24/7 public outrage at Donald (everything I've heard today is "how could this have gone on so long before finally being national headlines?" from media personal. This is the most important thing to consider) "Everyone" wants Sterling out as owner. Magic already (oops) said he and his group are interested in buying the Clippers if Donald is directly or indirectly forced out of ownership. When it comes to money and power, this makes SO MUCH SENSE in terms of plausible scenario behind the scenes.

That theory is a stretch to say the least... but it is plausible. I'm no big fan of Magic Johnson... but he has not shown any substantial brash behavior in his prior business dealing. I do think there is a racial element to his thought process although.
Knowing that the mistress is friends with Magic Johnson, the NBA would be stupid and maybe complicit to approve any such transfer of ownership... and YES I do think that Sterling will have to sell his franchise over this ordeal, but it will not be because he is "forced to sell" It will be for practical reasons.

Magic and his partners are spent after buying the Dodgers.....where will the money come from? I would think Larry Bird would want in...or Elgin Baylor.

The NBA will not force him to sell. They can try to get him to sell but it will be his decision to either sell, or pass the team along to family or friends.
MLB couldn't force Marge Schott to sell and she was only banned for 2 years for probably worse language then Mr. Sterling.
I do believe however Magic had a part of this story and this was premeditated. He wanted the Dodgers, he found a way to get the Dodgers. He wants the Lakers, well the Lakers will never transfer ownership and he wouldn't dare try to hurt the team that made him a star. So he gets the next best option. The other LA that's on the up and up so he stays in his home. I do not think it's far fetched to believe he had a play on this. The pieces can add up. I am not accusing him, but I am saying he could be a culprit and instigator by using the girl. How many hours after the story broke did he throw his name along with his investors name out there when the team wouldn't even be forced to sell? You can count with your hands. It's all politics and using the media for his personal gains while destroying another American. Now everyone wants Sterling to sell, well played Magic.
