Actually it is a problem. Not because they made one but because the term is no longer about an animal (with most being unable to identify a cougar specifically even if shown one).
No, if you play "word association games" with a high school kid, cougar would likely elicit a response of 'MILF' or "Hot older woman."
For that reason, the school administrators (many of whom are airheads but in this case did a good job), decided that they wouldn't let their mascot get such a name since it evokes a sexual association with females of age. No, they'd rather have their students keep their mind on their studies instead of thinking about whether the hot moms who pick up their kids everyday are wearing g-strings (and that's putting it lightly if considering what is going through a hormonally charged high school boy's brain).
But to Hutch and some of the other OUTRAGED idiots in this thread, it is just too PC and godammit! they've had enough of that crap already!

IF THERE WAS A LIST OF PRE-APPROVED MASCOT NAME CHOICES FOR THESE KIDS TO VOTE UPON, THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM.
