Went For A Walk Last Night.

after the small amount of snow fell . A whole four inches decided to go out for a stroll. 15 mile loop away from the city. But on roads .

It was peaceful. A few cars the sky cleared and the city haze gave plenty of light for me. Can't say I saw any animals but a stray dog who barked at me and turned tail as I walked. 

The night was incredibly bright for stars which is unusual with the light pollution escaping what other might be consider a large town. 

It was a clean feeling . Kind of food for my self and besides the dog. The void of any animal presented it own eerry but serene scene.

Many houses were darkened but a small porch light here and there. I walked by some old manse  made of wood . Empty no much left of the glass  what was an amazing farm house at one time. Probably kids over the years practicing pitching I surmise.

The journey took me a nitro and about 5 hours to complete.  The reality of such a fragile area that soon be subdivided and reformed haunted me as a vision of what progress will do as the newbies find their way to this seemingly remote area within steps of the second and fourth largest cities in Maine. 

It was needed maybe to clear my mind of the weeks I've rued dealing with humanity...

Can't do a 5 hour walk. Never could and never would try. Kudos to you nature...

Every bit of land in pristine places gets destroyed eventually because everyone wants their little slice of heaven. 

I remember the beauty of the Everglades when I moved to Florida in 76. Being a city kid, I was never exposed to the wild and all the different birds & animals. Never saw a black panther but like almost everything else they are endangered. Now there are highways, homes, stores like Ikea & the Florida Panthers stadium where there was always quiet, great fishing & beautiful sunsets.

However, I still have the memories at least for now....

Never really went deep into the everglades . when I was in southern Florida most was some canals around ft Myers that led to the everglades but the weeds made it impassable for the small boat I was in with a prop .

My buddies family had the boat and said a fan boat was needed to go any further. We trying to catch catfish . saw 2 small alligators about it beside the normal pelicans and shore birds of the Gulf. 

We mostly stayed near the shore line catching red snappers . the Gulf was alot different saw many strange animals manatees and rays sharks ... Western Florida entirely different . saw wild boar deer alligators around Rumsfeld game preserve. But never really went fishing there. 

Here in Maine we have two different competing strategies in town politics. 9ne side wants to preserve the rural characteristics of Maine. Meaning limiting growth.

They stop growth but making a building lots so big and need so much land for his developed. Stopping any business that employ too many at a good wage . 

This is dealing with schools as the main driver in the discussion they want 20 per class and no new schools causing property taxes to spike. Fryeburg maine is a good example of this.

The other camp wants to expand housing and courting business and building larger tax base to expand income.oppurtunities and push progress and growth.

The two sides aren't political opinions from party leadership it the basic principals that guide town governments.

This is and always had been the great tragedy of existence
