I've been in Chicago for a while now and I have tapped it out. I've worked its jobs, dated its women, seen it and done it. There is nothing left for me here. I want to begin something new and not put up with the ridiculous winters here any longer (the summers are fantastic and I may spend the summer in the Chi). I always thought seasonal depression was made up but after these last two winters I can see that it is a real thing despite the fact that I am a happy person. The sun has barely been out in three months and it is beyond dreary. When it is sunny, it's still ten degrees out and I no longer want to live like that.
For some reason I have always had a gut feeling to be in San Diego even though I have never been there. I want to move in the fall but plan on taking a trip in the summer to scope things out. I am committed to moving somewhere (I would listen to other warm recommendations not in Florida) but I want to make sure this is the right place first.
My questions are:
-What is your overall feeling of San Diego as a whole?
-I know cost of living is expensive...do you have a recommended place to live? Or place(s) to avoid?
-How is the social/night life? Obviously the beach is close, what else is there to do outside?
-Is there anything that I should know that I can't find on Google?
