The game is a huge moneymaker. And as kqc says, royalties from books.
John ain't gonna be lacking burger and chips money anytime soon.
And incidentally, I wonder if John even knows how to play the game that bears his name. (Doubt it . . .)
Was a good 4-5 years ago. He of course talked a lot about his passion for the game and that the money side of it was really not important to him. Then the question was asked about the commercials with Ace Hardware etc and the serious money he was pulling in from those lucrative deals.
That's fine but in truth the money was obviously a huge part of that passion and he wasn't being all together truthful.
Guys it actually may have been 20/20 it was so long ago but everytime he calls a game that interview comes to mind.
