Why did the ban on TikTok happen a day for Trump's inauguration?

Just for it to be reversed.  Why not well before or even after?  I'm not a TikTok or a supporter of social media just found it weird.  Any insight?

Just in anticipation of an extension:

TikTok began restoring its services in the United States on Sunday (19 January) after President-elect Donald Trump pledged to revive the app upon taking office on Monday (20 January). At a rally ahead of his inauguration, Trump declared, "Frankly, we have no choice. We have to save it."

Not to make it too political.  But it was a bad look to do it on the 19th.  They knew there would be considerable pushback and there was.  

When you have Rand Paul and Alexandria Ocasio Cortes both coming on TikTok and, basically, agreeing — then you have problem. 

Also in anticipation of it getting bought:

TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew is expected to attend Trump's inauguration and a rally. Reports suggest potential buyers, including Elon Musk and former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, have shown interest in TikTok's America operations, which analysts value at $50 billion.

So, it was an idiotic political ploy, that, thankfully,  backfired.  
The bigger issue is the buying of META stock by congressmen, knowing the ban proposal was coming up and would likely get passed.
