when did basketball fundamentals get so bad. guards can't create their own shots off the dribble and bigs have no more low post moves to just list 2 things.
pg: supposedly deeper than ever but most players look to shoot first and just play like a poor man's version of ai. steve francis is seen as a franchise cancer but imo he would be a top 3 pg today. cp3 probably only one who would still be a "superstar" back in earlier decades. do like mcw though, could have j-kidd potential
sg: long gone are the days of kobe/vc/tmac. 2 guards these days can barely dribble to the basket without tripping over themselves. now you see harden barreling into defenders and derozan with that ugly fadeaway long 2 as a go to move. yikes
sf: lebron/durant are amazing and the only 2 players who could hack it and retain the same effective levels in the 80s/90s/even 2000s. melo would be decent as well. probably the only position where the modern day game is better at
pf: prime elton brand would easily be the best pf today, and he was considered no better than 5th(duncan/kg/dirk/cwebb) in his prime. there is a reason dirk/kg/duncan are still effective at age 35 due to their solid fundamentals and also the fact the other players don't have much. the brow has potential though
c: shaq would wipe the league every year this decade. hell, even pat ewing probably would. hibbert is an all star center but is he even any better than rik smits? lol
they need to do something about the east too. the top seed in the east got swept by the 8th and 9th place teams in the west. coaches like randy wittman wouldn't last 20 games any other era but gets a 3 year 3 mil extension just for existing LOL
anyone else agree or don't agree? lol

Most of the "stars" don't even know how to play when they get to the NBA. The Lebrons and KG's and Dwight Howards don't come along very often.
Not to mention, I think it's rare nowadays for players to put together an off-season program specifically to add another element to their game.
The mid-range game is almost gone from the game.
Just a sign of the times. I can check in and watch a minute or two at a time, but that's about it.
Certainly there have been Freshman that have come out and been very good. But there are a LOT of them that have just sucked. Look at Lillard....Curry....those types. If EVERYONE stayed 3-4 years, I don't think you'd see as much crap on the floor in the NBA.

Teams want players that can jump out of the gym rather execute a proper bounce pass.... I blame Darius Miles. Also, this era of hoops (college and pro) might be the worst we've ever had.... I would say definitely in college... the NBA had a bad stretch post-Jordan around the time the Nets were winning the Eastern Conference.
Fundamentals are gone.... it's no wonder why the European and South American teams are gaining on the US game.

Think shooting and fundamentals are way down. But the players are way more athletic. Bigger, faster, stronger, etc. Sometimes when you rely on talent alone this is the product you get. Hard to caompare eras I kinow. But nostalgia may be a bad thing sometimes. I used to think teams from 80s etc. would beat teams today---but probably just too much athleticism today. Or raw talent.

I agree mostly---but to be disagreeable:

Who is Dwight Howard? The old one or the new one?
