Just looking at Asmussen makes him look shady. I never liked that guy in the first place. Too bad Rachel has to be trained by this scumbag. Have you guys seen the old episode on HBOs Real Sports when he was being questioned for doping his horses. Hope this guy goes down the sewer.

nobody hates the pharmacy boys more than me and anyone playing monmouth park needs to have their heads checked, but there is just no way that guys like this, that have the number of operations running that he does, can possibly stay on top of what is given to his horses.he certainly bares responsibility for it, but i know if it were me i wouldnt be at lone star drugin up maidens.

Assman's a class A scumbag. Met him twice during Breeder Cup weekend @ Lone Star about 5 years ago. He's the type of guy who doesn't make eye contact & looks thru you instead of at you.
$1500 is a joke & 6 months is a bigger joke for a repeat offender..

I play Monmouth a few times a week and I don't really understand why you would say that.
And it's a good point about the size of his operation. My friend is a trainer in the NJ/NY/PA area. He has between 50 and 100 horses (not a big operation at all). Most of them are at Philly Park, where he does most of his running, but he also runs at Monmouth, Meadowlands, NY tracks, even as far as Mountaineer and Laurel. One time a track official found cocaine in one of his feed buckets, and he had a hearing and was facing a suspension. It was at some track that he doesn't go to, but sends his people to when he runs there (I think it was Laurel, if I remember). The point of mentioning this is that my friend has a relatively small number of horses and he can't control everything that goes on. For guys like Asmussen, Pletcher, Lake, etc. it is an impossible task.

[/Quote Monmouth Park is fast approaching the lofty status of such tracks as Mountaineer and Delaware Park as havens for cheaters. If you play there you better have a good handle on the move-up guys, not to mention how the pools get distorted after the gates open...solid 3-1 shots are 8/5 before the turn.
As far as the super trainers, they better have a good people working for them as they obviously cant be at every operation every day for every race.

Number you are 100% right about having good people behind you in order to achieve supertrainer status. Because you are accountable. Look at the king of supertrainers D. Wayne
Kiaran Mclaughlin
Todd Pletcher
dallas stewart
mark hennig
randy bradshaw
jeff lukas
Just to name a FEW of his assistants. To lukas' credit they all have a pretty good rep

D. Wayne has been Lukas. Yeah the guy was a good trainer.......15 years ago Lukas
Yes...as much as I like D.Wayne, I think his problem is the same became somewhat the same thing that is happening a bit to Pletcher and is starting to happen to Assy.....they have way to many horses and not enough good underlings to take care of the barns.
D.Wayne started going down hill after his success in the mid-90's and all of a sudden his stable doubled.
Hell, Pletcher had 40 horses at Arlington two years ago. Now he has none there. I think they just can't get enough good assistants.

Mike you are right. The bottom line is if an asst. is good enough to handle a full barn for a big time trainer and have success, he is going to go out on his own eventually. You cannot blame a guy for wanting to go out and make it on his own. I am sure it is much more lucrative and professionally rewarding.
We of course will never see another run like the one Lukas had.
