After the Haskell, BB was interviewed and he explained the horse always has to be worked and ridden or his mind wanders. Smith opened up 5, and kind of relaxed and Authentic got distracted by shadows off the rail and bugged out and stopped running. Smith rebounded last second and got him going just enough to hold on.
Okay.
Fast forward a couple months. Why hasn’t anyone said a word about these shadows?? I saw Baffert just a few hours ago talking about his horse and was asked if distance was a concern after the Haskell and he didn’t say a word about shadows.
Anyone have any idea or did I hallucinate the Baffert post Haskell interview?

You didn’t hallucinate. It was said. Plain and simple, he’s not a distance horse. War Emblem might be the best comparison,
But Baffert isn’t stupid. If he has the lead, anything can happen (for example, if everyone waits for Tiz to go before making their move and Tiz doesn’t fire)

Authentic not bred for distance; he is completely gassed in the Haskell but hangs on to win by a nose at 9 furlongs. He then sets a blistering pace in a 10 furlong race, and proceeds to repel the top thoroughbred in the country over the entire length of the stretch in the Derby.
Authentic freaks- out post-race, seemingly taking particular aim at Baffert and knocking him on his can. Authentic's stablemate freaks- out pre-race, and is unable to reach the post parade after breaking Baffert's assistant's arm.
I actually like Bob Baffert; we can, however, draw our own conclusions about what happened at Churchill Downs on Derby Day in the Baffert barn-
