Is there a way for the general public to identify a horse entered by a trainer who did so just to fill a race on a card?Knowing this info, aids a player tremendously.

usually an outsider, who ran recently and the trainer has another horse entered in the same race.

As everyone knows, I&#x27;m no racing expert! &#xD;&#xA;But in my opinion this would happen when a barn is taking up stall space at  a track and is not running his horses often enough to fill races. Therefore if I saw a horse running consistently for 5k and now it is suddenly entered in a 10k race especially if the race is only 6-7 horses, I&#x27;d say race filler.&#xD;&#xA;JMO&#xD;&#xA;I did learn something here of utmost importance  in this forum though,  IGNORE ROUSED.

Years ago Gary Contessa had the rep during the Aqueduct winter meet & I recently thought I heard trainer Ron Ellis admit on TVG that his entered horse was just a filler.

I got the impression Ellis was helping the racing secretary fill a race where as Contessa had a horse ready to go & added a horse to makesure the race went off. Helping a racing secretary is never a bad idea....

Yes Midnight, I agree. It beats losing stalls at the next meet.&#xD;&#xA;Never a bad idea to keep your stalls.
