Rest of Spring meet will be held at Ellis Park.
I believe two more horse have met there demise bringing the total to 12 fatalities.
Unfortunate to say the least.

Probably a wise decision to shutdown early.
I know trainer Saffie Joseph was really pissed when he wasn't allowed to race horses on Derby day after two of his were euthanized.
Owners of Joseph's best horse, White Abarrio, took away his training responsibility & gave them to Tricky Dick Dutrow who just got this NY trainer's license unsuspended.
He's got White Abarrio ready to run in the Met Mile next Saturday on the Belmont undercard.

I didn't know this but Churchill bought Ellis Park last year for 79 million, so the transition should be seamless.
So far Churchill is stumped after checking the cushioning, the track composition & surface grade with results reflecting the same as previous years without incidents.
What will we learn?
If we don't see similar results from horses racing at Ellis or other tracks with horses shipping from Churchill, do we conclude the Churchill surface is the cause or will the industry determine it was just a run of terrible terrible luck/misfortune?

@Midnight1
I can see Churchhill downs sticking some money into Ellis Park if it’s a success. I think when it’s all said and done, medical research will come up with some possible answer as to why this has happened, and see some possible similarities in all of these tragedies
