Derby Card

I just finished capping all 14 races but need to wait until tomorrow when the scratches are announced.

We have a couple of favorites (American Anthem, My Boy Jack, King Zachary, He's Stylish) that haven't race in 8 to 10 months. But the longest layoff is in Race 3 # 6 Palmers Way (9-2) who has been away for 2 years & still attracts Javier to ride.

There are cetainly some who enjoy an off-track & I'm sure the tote will identify that for us all.

Early post of 10:30 will get me involved early but most of my powder will be saved for some really good racing later in the card.

mikey..In race 4 I think #2 Hidden Scroll redeems himself & trainer Bill Mott today.

I thought I had a winner with Luis Saez but the 5 & 2 came from nowhere to catch my guy. A $23 winner could be a sign for what's to come during the day. 

I've never see an inside gelding like #3 Conquest Tsunami go immediately to the outside after the break. He went to try for the lead but American Anthem beat him to it. He was done into the turn for home.

Very odd & don't know what Rosario was thinking. Nice 5-5 double of $234 for anyone who had it.

It's always so clear after the race.

The winner of the 2nd race #5 Thirstforlife is now 4 of 6 @ CD.

I made a note "loves CD" last night but his last 4 races were awful. That really shouldn't have mattered because he's certainly a horse for the course.

Race 4 #2 Hidden Scroll is the heavy chalk & he should be. Ex/DD wheel 2/all.

Chalky play but can't play against this one.

Had to take the grandchildren fishing & watch the air show in Ft. Lauderdale. Caught a couple of snook & convinced them we could see the air show from the house. The Heineken are colder than I've been so far.

Kids thought I was nuts yelling for the tri.

8-4-6...Loved that Fulfilled Promises hung on for third. Disappointing ex/tri payoff but it must have been the ocean air that woke me up.

The 1 & 2 were hammered in the Doubles with the winner in the 8th #8 Mitole. I worry most about Saez on #1 screwing up my play.

Crazy....Irad/Chad Brown pay $19  with #3.

I knew #1 was going to mess it up for me.

Race 10 I was hoping for a scratch in this race but it didn't happen. Early on the Derby trail  I was high on Global Campaign. He took a left turn somewhere in his last race. He didn't make in today but I would have been all over him.

Race 10...I am wheeling #12 Bricks and Mortar in the double so whoever wins the Derby I'll be happy.

Race 12 I like #8 Tacitus And I can't abandon #1 War of Wills.

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. I didn't think the winner should have been DQ'd but I'll take the $242 double.
