I'm no horse expert by any means, but based on my limited research so far, a few thoughts...
California Chrome... record speaks for itself and he'll be the deserving favorite. Hoping he draws the #1 spot so I don't have to worry so much about him.
Commanding Curve... he's reportedly a closer, but has won only once in 6 races - the one win being his maiden race. Never raced in a Grade I race before. Clearly, this horse is wayyyyy outclassed.
Medal Count... the experts knock him because they don't think he'll do too great on dirt. He took 2nd in his last race and that was polytrack. I've read some are picking him to finish 10th or worse. He hasn't won a Grade I race and again seems to be a bit outclassed here.
Ride on Curlin... didn't win most of his big races, but he always hit the board. He's definately a Derby-worthy-horse and will probably be near the top again. Will the racing gods give Borel another Derby victory? I wouldn't bet it, but probably a smart to include in exotics.
Uncle Sigh... won his maiden race, and that's about it. Grade 3 races... he finished 2nd twice. Grade 1 race... finished 5th. This horse couldn't win the Derby with a rocket strapped to his behind.

General A Rod... a closer that has hit the board in every race, despite some tough competitiion. Although as his competition increased over the past three races, his results went down... 1st, then 2nd, then 3rd. Not a good trend IMO, but the experts seem to like him. I wouldn't pick him to win, but he probably shouldn't be left off exotic bets.
