lets  start  with  this past friday...   july1st,  woodbine  had a few  nice winners...  noholdingbackbear  won a 74k allow race to push his record to 8-4-3-0, good things coming his way as summer moves on.  melmich a 5yr old gelding  posted his 10th win at woodbine  winning the dominion day stakes ,hes 22-10-5-2 life ,for 425k..  prarie meadows had a big week of racing..  bafferts american freedom  won the 250k iowa derby  fri evening. he stands 4-3-0-0 and im sure baffert  feeling good about a few spots this summer as this guy progresses.  sat july 2nd   churchill  had closing night,  classic empire the 2yr old out of pioneer of the nile and mark casses barn went 2 for 2  with his 6 furlong  bashford manor win. churchill will resume  sept 16th..  staying in kentucky  barely..   ellis park  opened its 25 day meet  yesterday.. purses,field sizes up, turf is good,  jockey colony may be strongest ever. didiel osorio  rode 4 winners  yesterday.. he  led standings a yr ago with  25.  9 on tap for today and on the 4th. lanerie,albarado,bj hernandez,francisco torres ,james graham  among the jocks  coming to  town..4on turf today, 5 on turf  tommorow.  almost  forgot  david flores returned to ride a 9/1  winner  sat, his first win of 2016..  not listed to ride today however.    more in a few

lets head to maryland where laurel park opened its meet friday.. its first of 8 twilight fridays 340est.. was quite a opening 7 double digit winners, fergal lynch rode 3 winners friday. a new wagering twist.. a 50 p5 in race1 daily and also there last 5 will be a p5. a very low 12% takeout. laurel also offers p4s in races 2,4, and its last 4 daily. 40per cent chance of rain today ,overcast, 5 scheduled for turf today, 6 for turf tommorow on the 10 race programs. vic carassco and trev mccarthy rode 3 winners sat. mccarthy was taken off mounts after the 4th . not sure about today ?.of 19 races run, 12 winners have been 4/1 or better. 50 cent p4s have been very nice.

belmont park .. the grade1 mother goose went to pletchers off the tracks who just kept running fast on the bill daley, lol that means on the front end for the young guys here. she pushed her record to 6-4 -1-1 .. belmont will race til july 17 then give way to saratoga on the 22nd. however next week sat july 9th they will have 6 very big stakes. we can look at those later in the week. some real turf stars will be in action in a few of those races.

gulfstream park had its summit of speed sat.. a couple to watch.. rated r superstar was a trying 3 yr old, putting it together at 4, he won the 150 k carryback, pushed his record to 11-3-4-2 and 265 k .spelling again for brad cox and luis saez picked up the 250 k princess rooney. she became breeder cup eligible with the win. she stands 20-6-3-5 and has banked 517 k..

a couple to watch in calf.. dalmore won the 100 k affirmed running down danzing candy sat, the desormeaux charge came back fron his 10th in the wood memorial, danzing candy caught at wire in the weak field.. he is now in bafferts barn.

firing line set to return after his 7th in last yrs muddy preakness, might meet calf chrome in san diego handicap july 23

how about the undefeated songbird, she coming back on july 16th for delaware handicap or the 24th at the spa in coaching club. the goal for now the gr1 alabama at the spa.

on monday july 4th lets watch the 200k james penney memorial at parx..some of the best conditioners will be there. its race 8

pleasanton closing its meet monday july 4th, will have the 100k everett nevin for 2 yr old sprinters today. race 9..

just 40 minites to race1 on queens plate day at woodbine.. stakes in races 4 the 200k highlander ,6 furlongs on turf.. lady shipman 16-11-2-2 in town for mcglaughlin. . gail cox trains something extra ,and mike depaulo trains passion for action. the two most likely upsetters.

race6 is the 100k charlie barley 1 mile on turf,3 yr olds..

race8 is the singspiel 150 k on turf at 1/1/2 miles a older salty group.

race9 the 200k dance smartly 1/1/8 on turf for the fillies

race10 the 1 million dollar queens plate ,first leg of canadian triple crown.. 1/1/4 on all weather. very compettive bunch we can get into later hopefully.

and did you know ...... dance smartly for who race 9 is named.. was 17-12-2-3 life and earned 3.2 million, was the 1991 canadian triple crown winner, was the 1st canada bred horse to win a breeders cup race. and was ridden by pat day.. what a filly, beat the boys all the time..

always be miki won the 500k ben franklin, beating freeky feet pete and wiggleit jiggleit. the 9th win in last 11 for him. 23 wins in 42 42 starts.. the 5yr old was injured and has returned better than ever.

the 500k earl beal memorial went to southwind frank ,the ronnie burke trained 3yr old has become fav for aug 6th hambo. now stands 16-14-1-0 life

betting line the no. america cup winner also returned to win at mohawk last night. a 5th straight win.
