I guess it starts with Brody's Cause as the biggest loser as pointed out by Mike T and the announcers (and did you see the head go down at the owner's table). Just awful. How is he part of this without being 6-7 wide through the first 1/4 mile?
Mo Tom:
Sure he's a deep closer but this horse appears to hate the rail. Now he's stuck on the inside through at least the first turn and likely has to weave his way through 19 of them.
Danzig Candy:
Sure, he was going to the lead but now he can't get it without going 8 wide, nearly an extra 1/16 of a mile.
Lani:
So you take a high-strung horse who has gate issues and you put him smack in the middle. Hmmmm....
Nyquist:
Open for reasonable debate, but doesn't he now have to let the outside horses pass him before setting his pace. I imagine he would have liked tracking them from the outside.
Winners:
Gun Runner:
They say he needs near the front. The four horses inside cannot leave. He can grab the inside lead and not get sandwiched at the rail while he waits for horses like Nyquist to get wide and track. My guess is no matter what happens, he will have saved the most ground of them all.
Exaggerator:
Don't like the horse and he won't be on my tickets but seems to be the perfect draw for his style of mid-pack closer.
Destin:
With the speed mainly on the outside, he can position himself where he wants to be. Todd Pletcher called him one of the more versatile horses he ever trained so this will be an interesting move early.
Moheymn and Outwork:
Both get the starting gate break to their left and right respectively.

Danzing Candy drawing the outside is the most significant event of the draw. Outwork, Nyquist and anybody else who wants to be close early will have to use more to get position as DC tries to clear the field. I'll be keying Exaggerator and Mor Spirit....buying the Cali hype. Best of luck.
