7 on the dirt, 5 on the turf & 9 while training on the dirt.

I mentioned on a past Saturday that I saw 3 breakdowns on different tracks in a handful of races. Santa Anita has experienced major weather issues that may have contributed to this but I wonder where we can find data on tracks experiencing a high number of accidents.

Santa Anita needs a shake up anyhow.. those 5 horse fields are just pitiful betting propositions. Maybe they sell it for commercial use and just have Del Mar, GG, and Los Al as the major tracks-  that would be better for the field size

Yeah features only for me at SA .Small fields there for years.$12 exactas $50 tri&#x27;s. ridiculous  With regard to these beautiful race horses.Hope they figure it out  Glad there shutting it down to figure out what the problem is.Just precautionary they say?Think there may be a little more to it.Weather would be the easiest culprit to point to, and would save face for the industry to a point.  Up until this year there were 1.61 deaths per every 1000 starts with I think the increase occurring on dirt.Breeders cup there in November.Hopefully the animal rights activists go home by then.

&#xA;With the owners legal issues the prospect of selling Santa Anita is increased.&#xA;The breakdowns are a complex issue that many would prefer to remain in the dark. The business is driven by the breeders and owners. The inbreeding of speed to speed is in part an issue. I don&#x27;t think quarter horses or harness horses have as high a fatality rate.
