Once again a full plate with 11 single entries listed and an
interesting 4 out of 7 races at Monmouth Park with only 2 runners. If
one hits like it did today (race 11 exacta paid $133.00) you got $$$ in
your pocket. And as I noted yesterday, if you thought underneath
today, you did very well. For example, if you used the 3 Slew listings
in the Eddie Read underneath the logical Jeranimo you got yourself a
$130 exacta. There were a whole bunch like that today. My favorite play
using Slew horses.
We also had a beautiful $100+ double with back to back singles in the 5th and 6th at Gulfstream.
For Sunday, we have two long shots running as Key Horses:
Let It Rock - GP ( 7) 12/08/12 # 7
Wasted At Midnight - DMR ( 2) DMR 08/05/12 # 6
Let It Rock last won at Tampa in Feb. and is one of two that
are out of conditions and in for the 25K tag in this Allowance Optional
Claiming contest at Gulfstream Park at 1 1/8 miles on the turf. Less
than stellar competition may help this 12-1 ML entry here. Your call.
Wasted At Midnight caught my eye when finishing 5th in a MSW
last August at Del Mar. Next entered in the Gr. I Del Mar Debutante
Stakes where she finished last of 8 when she wasted her energies early.
Alexis Barba put this gal on the shelf for 11 months, and she returns here in a MSW. Nakatani rides and if you don't bet her, watch her closely.
Enjoy the Sunday racing...good luck and good 'capping!

Best of Luck, Slew, I'll tail you for a few bucks today. I'm still having a little trouble navigating your site, but it's fun to read your posts here. Maybe one day I'll give you a few stock tips, horse racing and the stock market have a lot more in common than you may think....

howzuck: Hey there. The site should be easy to navigate. Hell, if you can navigate Wall Street.....what gives you a problem?
As for the stock market, I think horses are SAFER! Too much smart money and smart software rigging the market. I stay away except for one stock. Bought AMD (been in and out for years) high 2's and waiting long for 6 or 7. Other than that...I'll stick to the equine commodity...

Slew, it's not navigating (I know just wrote this), it's really understanding how to use the data and of course how to bet, which entails both money management and how to bet, i.e., like to do exacta wheels when the favorite appears to be vulnerable vs. WPS), I don't really play that seriously, but I do like to try every now and then.....

:when the favorite appears to be vulnerable..." - That is the common wisdom. OK, so 10 horses in a 15K claiming race and a vulnerable fav. So which if the nine won't crap out or count the house or forget to run? Try a different strategy. I pointed out yesterday's Eddie Read. perfect example. Here we had a favorite that wasn't considered vulnerable. And 3 horses on Slew's list that were fast but were not going to beat the fav. Underneath for $100+ every time in my book.
Try finding a the winner...one that you believe in. Then if there are horses on Slew's list that are a bit of a price but ran in fast races...especially if they are rising in class...put them underneath your 'winner'. You will be rooting for them NOT to win. If your guy wins, you will get paid handsomely for picking the second place horse.
Key horse Salisita won yesterday at the Spa. in race 3. If you used her over the top 2 or 3 horses listed by Slew for that race, you got another $100+ exacta.
Try it. No bet or very small $2 bets. Take your time and change the way you think about the favorite. There is nothing more satisfying than watching the chalk eaters get $5.60 for backing their runner, while you get a bucket full of $$$ for backing him or her with a solid long shot underneath.
That is the strength of Slew. I suggest you review the results pages each day to get an idea of how it works. And check out yesterday's Monmouth park race 11. When you see something like that...at good odds...it's a go.
Most importantly, learn with small money. You will be surprised what you can do. Much easier than the MARKET!!!

Wow, Slew, that's a great job, I don't remember you hitting one that big on this forum....
how: I'm not sure but it might be the longest price. I pick these horses based on the quality they exhibit during fast races so usually they are not going to be long prices. When they are: give 'em a shot.
Hope you tailed for a few bucks on this one. - Slew

Slew, it was for just a few bucks across the board, keep up the good work, as I said in another thread, I always enjoy reading your posts. If you follow the NFL, here's a few futures almost locks for you:
- Jets under 6 1/2 wins (if you need a comment, you don't follow the NFL at all)
- Saints over 9 wins (another gimme, this team will bounce back big time after last season's off the field problems)
I have some leans as well, but do you follow football?

how: I am a fan and enjoy the game but do not ever bet it. Actually do not bet sports. Just TB racing and occasionally Wall Street. :-)
But thanks anyway!
