I've always been big fan of trainer Peter Walder. He was always adept at finding the right place to enter his horses especially towards the end of meets here in South Florida. Haven't seen him in a long time & just learned that he withdrew his application for his racing license. His barn was turned over to trainer Fernando Abreu & he's now just acting in a consultant role. He won at a 25% rate for over a decade. His career has been relatively clean regarding medication violations but evidently he's a pain in the ass around the backstretch/barn areas. His use of profanity & obnoxious behavior got him thrown off racing properties in New Jersey & Illinois. His reasoning for withdrawing his application is due to personal matters he needs to address. You never know what is going on in someone's life until they hit a wall.

With baseball just around the corner I'm sure you've all seen the crazy guy wearing the orange Florida Marlins jersey during the playoffs & World Series last year. He was always able to get seats right behind home plate & wore his Marlins visor to the side of this head. If you were watching the games, you couldn't miss him.
Turns out he owns 102 horses under Starship Stables primarily trained by Steve Dwoksin. He's a lawyer who owns a workers compensation firm & his name is Laurence Leavy. His owners box is right on the finish line next to track owner Frank Stronach's box. He has a bunch of low level claimers but says he's not in racing for the money. He's an interesting dude.
Last piece of info I learned is that American Pharoah is headed to Australia in July to stand stud until the end of the year. His owners will be paid $50,668 per breeding session. I would think all involved are pretty happy with this arrangement.
