No real handle, capped so small play 2 / 1,5,10 / 2,4,6,7,10 / 2, 12

The best laid plans...
Always 'cap pick fours the same; start with the one horse in the first leg, then the two horse, etc.
After disposing of the rail entrant, THIRTEEN COLONIES (8.92) looked tough. Uneventful January debut in Miami ( DRF chart read "head turned start" ) watching the replay I saw no issue. Came back two and a half months later, same class/course, with a handful of works, a few very quick and the DRF chart said "bumped Start". My comment would have been " body blocked from both sides"! The Hit a Bomb colt recovered nicely but was caught wide and stayed wide; notable given the turf rail was set at some 45 feet.
Note: tracks move the turf rail in order to preserve the course, while most bettors do not notice because on big days tracks run on the hedge. Wherever the rail is placed has an important, yet largely ignored impact on how the race is run. In short, when the rail is out the pace is slower, and come from behind horses are wide, very much running against the grain and seldom win. Back to "colonies.
Monster rider shift after the boy in his last could not keep this one straight in the stretch, in his last. Sure the colt likely needed the race and got tired 4-5 wide the entire voyage. Still eight and a half green panels for maidens in sub 1:40 made this one a major player regardless of the balance of the field. Spent time looking at the others; found no threats.
The best laid plans ... warming up. Solid single leg one, big fields, big handle liking our chances.
Alas, layoffs, trainer intent, odd works ensued and our pari-mutuel balloon started leaking air. Inscrutable heats, short prices on contenders, pace uncertainty etc.
Went three deep next heat with only three that could win. Ok.
The stake required five long to clear the race. Alive to the last.
The split of the maiden bottom (2nd race) in the last was chaos. Did spend time on it though and really had no conviction. Went with a pair and they dueled themselves into submission, both claimed.
The best laid plans... play another sequence soon! bbb 0
