Let me be clear I am NOT taking anything away from the winners today. I am not contesting the clockers or any of the mechanisms they use to register the races and the times.
Something inside me just gets a little bit curious when some very good but not outstanding horses run these times.
in race 2 the winner in maiden 30K sellers ran 1:09 and change
a two year old spins in 1:06 and change in race 4. that is like ridiculous world record speed.
in race 8 in a G1 no less a three year old runs it in 1:19.7 for seven furlongs.
call me crazy but even after all the big beyers we see out of opening day i just am not sure things will hold up like they did today.
my forecast is that the main track will play pretty damn fair and even over the course of the next 100 days or so.
