A smattering of talent in this one with 6/5 ML fave El Areeb
the Golden Boy today off his very impressive win in The Jerome.
#4 El Areeb….While I wouldn’t call his performance in The
Jerome breathtaking, he sure was The Man that day winning by 11L in a wink and
a nod. Trevor McCarthy returns to ride the son of the great Exchange Rate with
the two combing for wins by a total of 25 lengths in their last 3
races.
Who else?
#2 Apartfromthecrowd ....A Chad Brown boy out of world class
turfer Gio Ponti. You would think his future is on grass, but his short history
shows that he can adapt to dirt. Irad Ortiz Jr is hot in the trot and, at 5-1
ML, I think you’ll see the late kick coming to play to challenge the leader(s).
#6 Fillet of Sole….At 10-1, he is worth a nice look as the
Pletcher charge looks like he has potential…maybe not to win this race, but
beyond. Take a hard look for a slice at a decent price with vet Maragh driving
the bus.
#9 Square Shooter….A puzzler at 12-1 with Frankie Pennington
sitting for trainer Michael Lerman, he’s won his first two races, but appears
over his head with most of these. That said, “most of these” might be dead at
the end with this guy grabbing a sliver or two.
#10 J Boys Echo…..Dale Romans brings in a $485K Keeneland
sale Mineshaft colt at 4-1. Some cache with this guy, if you toss his last
effort. I am not liking the work so much, but I do like the potential.
#5 Bonus Points…Look close for some
My picks
$4 El Areeb to win
$12 EXACTA: 4,2,6,10
$4 EXACTA: 4/9
