I have been capping tomorrows cards and gotten through 2 so far. It has taken me 3 hours as I look at every horse (I delete the morning lines to make myself do this as i found that's where you find the prices). I just glanced at the college football and nfl lines and in 5 minutes I can wager a few thousand and have relative confidence I can break even and get major action all weekend.
That's a major problem with horses. Its my favorite game to wager on and I can stay ahead in profit most years but its a total grind and time killer but has always been worth it for the huge scores and the gratification you can cap better than the public. Now I notice more 5 and 6 horse fields at tracks that used to have 8 or 9 (always) and think is it worth this time? Not so sure. Can i even beat the game with 5/6 horse fields? I don't think i can.
I am seriously thinking of just spreading out my bankroll on football this weekend and enjoying the extra time. Maybe just become a triple crown and breeders cup days player. Trying to quantify how valuable that extra time is vs. the better action/results of playing horses. Assuming I can still produce better results at racing.
