Uncle Mo status appears doubtful. I would handicap the race as if he was not in. There have been reports coming in over the past few days that have said he will not run. Welsh was quoted Tuesday/Wednesday that Mo looked light. The speculation continued this morning when DRF posted an article which Repole all but said it looks like a scratch. They know he can not win this thing so they would rather wait for an easier spot or face tired horses in the preakness. Unfortunately he has been the ultimate fade horse for me and this is going to really hurt the odds of horses such as Soldat, pants on fire, and shackleford.
“He’s gotten so much better since the Wood,” Repole said late
Thursday morning. “Whether it’s enough, Todd Pletcher and the vets will
make a decision and Mike Repole will live with that decision.”
Repole said that he wouldn’t wait until Saturday to make the final decision on Mo’s status.
“This isn’t going to be a Saturday decision,” he said. “We owe it to
the racing fans, we owe it to the public; it’s not our intention to drag
this out.” Repole appeared somewhat despondent in talking about Uncle Mo, giving
the impression that he is attempting to come to grips with not being
able to run his 2-year-old champion in the world’s most famous horse
race. If they opt to scratch Uncle Mo, Repole and Pletcher will still
have Stay Thirsty, the Gotham winner, to run.

Baffert responds.... But Baffert still couldn't resist saying a few things people may deem
controversial, including that he isn't quite buying the mysterious
gastrointestinal illness that has supposedly stricken Uncle Mo in recent
weeks. Uncle Mo, the Todd Pletcher-trained colt who was an undefeated
juvenile champion, is still not guaranteed to run Saturday.
"Uncle
Mo looks fantastic out there to me," Baffert said. "He's the best
horse in the race. I don't care what rumors you hear. You can't throw
him out. He's looked great to me. Everyone is talking about him being
50/50. I think [owner Mike Repole] is just trying to build a price for
himself because it sounds like he likes to gamble. He's going to be
dangerous. I don't think it's some [gastrointestinal issue], I think he
just got tired at the Wood [Memorial]. From what I've seen visually,
there is nothing there that tells me the horse isn't ready to run. I'm
not buying that crap. He's just trying to steal this race."

Mikeyp I have an odd question. If uncle Mo scratches do you think they will move AAA to post 2 or do you think they will move a horse in the AUX gate? I think it will help AAA a lot of they move him out so that he doesn't have to actually avoid the rail. I am not sure what they do in this instance. I think if a horse scratches in the main gate they move the 1 horse out but in the aux gate I am not sure

I watched the coverage on Versus yesterday and they said that if Uncle Mo scratched they would only move 19 and 20 over and AAA will still be stuck where he is

Uncle Mo did scratch and (as above) they will move in from the outside and gate 20 will be empty. Per announcement at 8:30 this morning. Good luck on your plays. I have not been following the horses much this year and don't even have a good guess. I will play the Napravnik jockey a little.
