Its to bad two of the top four finishers will likely be left out.
That being Hidden Scroll and Bourbon War.The former who really was asked a lot early in that race, which is not his game, came up short as the fav and finished 4th.
I think if your taking a stand against the top Omaha Beach who I scored nicely with last out ,Game Winner Tacitus or Roadster, or just looking for a few others who may fit the bill, one could be Code of Honor who impressed me so much against a real nice field.
He finally got a chance ot run a trouble free race after getting bumped hard in the $100000 Mucho and stumbling bad but still coming in second in the Gr 1 Champgn.
Drawing a line threw the Florida Derby finishing a well beaten third while losing to Max Security, another fine horse.
Not saying he wins but just looking for a few to fill out the superfecta. War of Will, and Vekoma can also fit the bill.
Tax is another whos odds will be huge. Remember he only lost to Tacitus by a half length and personally think he will improve yet again, this time around.
Johnny Vs decision to ride Code of Honor or stick with Baffert will help make my mind up.
Sorry Im all over the board here. But the ones who know me I guess are use to it.
Keep up the discussion guys. Its Derby time

It was interesting to see Vekoma win the Blue grass while not focusing on the race but instead staring up in the stands.
I think hes a good horse and will be interesting to see if his handlers get him mentally ready in two weeks.

I would be remiss if I didnt add something on a horse which may finish in the money. War of Will.
This son of War front was supposed to have a racing career on grass based on his pedigree. He showed flashes, but a switch to the main track turned out to be what he needed. Big on class and maybe a tad less on stamina, he had never lost a race on dirt until his 9th place finish as the 4-5 favorite in the Louisiana Derby.
That though can be attributed to the horse having lost his footing in the race and injuring the Patellar ligament.
If that had not happened and he won the race, remaining undefeated on dirt this horse would surely be a top selection.
Since then he ran a bullet at Keenland 1st out of 44 at 5 furlongs, 59 flat, one of two great works at Keenland.
His connections are top notch and owned by Metro Golden CEO Gary Barber. Not so important but found it interesting none the less. My guy Tyler Gaffalione is riding so thats a plus for me.
I think hes got a better then average chance and will have a rather large show bet riding on him depending on how much liquor is consumed by oh say ... 3 o'clock

good observations, VET.......for me, the key is lack of true speed. Closer? A speedster who steps up? The next Mine That Bird? I haven't early handicapped yet, but, if I could afford it, I think I would play a 30 horse box!

Happy Easter Mike and all my Christian Brothers on covers.
Risen Star showed me he has good tactical speed. Was a large field and out of the 14 hole ...granted, competition was not what he'll see in the Derby, but liked what I saw.
Same with his win in the Leconte. Once he switched to dirt...wow.
Dont know when the last true closer won the Derby. Have to check.
Look forward to your breakdown of the race Mike and a few others I havent seen in quite a while.
Still a ways out so maybe when things warm up a little more.
