Why is Sierra Leone the second betting favorite?

The horse has almost no chance of winning.  Lets start with this no horse that has won the risen star stakes has ever won the Kentucky derby.  Winner of the risen star sierre leone.  Bluegrass, no horse that has won the bluegrass stakes has won the Kentucky derby since 1991.  35 years.  Winner of the bluegrass Sierea Leone.  Kentucky derby qualifying points.  No horse that has had the most qualifying points for the Kentucky derby has won the race since 2014.  10 years.  Horse with the most qualifying points Sierra Leone.  Closing figures from the last race.  38.02.  closing figure over 38.  Best horse has 36.2.  Fierceness is only the 5th best finisher in the race.  A closing figure over 38 more than 2 sec off the top 2 horses.  Only thing it has going for him is the large heart trait.  That just means its likely to win a stakes race.  Out of a 20 horse field why is it the second betting favorite?

Derby such a tough race to pick w so many horses, with 20 plus horses the best horse can easily get boxed in on rail and never get chance. Last yr I won $ on Preakness and Belmont, usually derby I play meaningful #s since such a large field. I am gonna put $25 across board on resilience tho

I won't bet on the race this year.  I like fierceness.  He is the horse to beat.  He is the only horse in the field with a triple digit beyer.  110 at the flordia derby.  That being said the horse with the highest speed figure in a prep race has only won it 5 out of the last 23 years.  21% I'd say hes got about a 28% chance of winning.  He looks like he is a lot faster than the other horses.  Usually a horse has to run a triple digit beyer number to win the race.   I like catching freedom and stronghold.  Stronghold is a long shot hes bred to sprint. 30-1  I read he is a closer.  The other horse I'd throw in there a lot of people like 3rd choice catching freedom.

Also against Sierra Leone is not many have won out of the 2 post and I believe affirmed was the last and that was nearly 50 years ago
