I am absolutely kicking myself for not taking a shot on some out of the money calls on ROH. Local company, knew they had an airtight contract, know people who work there that said without question that the deal would be going down, etc.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda, and unfortunately, that ship has sailed. But at this point, anyone think Dow could be a good investment? Obviously for $78 in cash, this purchase was atrocious, but it seems like that is already reflected in the share price as this thing will probably open below $6 a share tomorrow. And they are acquiring an extremely profitable business.
I like this a lot at $6 a share. Not saying short term it won't go down as who knows what the shorts will do to this tomorrow, but longer term, i.e., a year from now, is there any reason to think this doesn't at least get back into the teens?

Don't get me wrong. I agree this was a terrible deal. In a perfect economy, the deal at $78 may have made sense. Liveris (sp?) must have had blinders on not to see what was going on with the economy.
My argument is that at $6 a share, I just feel like this has already been priced in and then some. And long term, while they did overpay, Rohm has been very profitable, and is a cash cow. Also, they should be able to recoup some cash as I think the plan is to sell off some of Rohm's business lines.
I don't know, could be grasping at straws here, but at $6, I think its worth a shot. I just think that it has been lingering as there was so much uncertainty about the deal. Now that the deal has gone through, Dow can focus on moving forward.

R&H is going to turn out to be a great buy for DOW, and I think the risk is low for a buy and hold. Couple years from now it should be back up high....

After more than a double, sold half my holding at $16.06, made a few bucks, and am playing with the house's money for the rest of my shares. I still cannot believe this was down to $6.50 a share
