I figure it will be going up with the favorite Obama winning?  Any thoughts...

It should rally tomorrow, and possibly the rest of the week.  Then things will resume once the party is over.

I noticed a couple of the Stem Cell stocks and the Solars have been moving up, that could continue.

Terrible opening for US futures this morning.
 
Dem pres, and dem congress.
 
The very next pullback-----am going to start getting long gold bullion, but I got a feeling the "lows" last week will never be seen again.

I see a small relief rally at some point then reality sets in...did they get a filibuster proof Senate? If so, there will be some truly egregious legislation emerging from that cast of clowns.

No, looks like there was some sanity in the voters (not a crack against Dems but more that voters threw out some of the more moderate GOP Senators).

Looks like Stevens, Smith, Coleman and Chambliss held on.

If they did have a fillibuster proof number - it would have dropped 600-800 points off the bat and approach the lows from Sept/Oct.

 I agree with that last statement, and should have cautioned.

The thought that Congress would run amok was what a lot of people were scared of.As long as the filibuster is possible, the worst excesses may possibly be prevented.

 But the realities are still in place, and even if we get a feel good sort of rally in the coming days, it will be utterly ephemeral.

current market problems couldn't have ANYTHING to do with the last 8 years of "spend and put it on the ChiCom credit card", the deindustrialization of America or letting the unregulated Wall Street Weasels and Criminal Corporate Quislings run amok do you?

It isnt, but Obama has no economic experience, nearly as bad as Bush in that area.

I am not thrilled that he won, it will be rough for the markets, no doubt.

I really think Obama will staff a LOT better. Bush put every political hack in the Republican party in a post they were NOT qualified to hold in just about EVERY top job. I think Obama will select QUALIFIED people for those positions.
 
also, REASONABLE regulation is actually GOOD for the markets. when you had a party in power who's mantra is "Government is NOT the solution to the problem, Government IS the problem" you get the type mess that lead to the market almost coming apart.

  And of course Repubs have much blame.However, the GSE fiasco was and is still backed by the likes of Charlie Rangle and Chuck Schumer.Do you believe Social Security a serious actuarial reality, soberly run by our Congress the past 50 years?

  The point was and remains, an overwhelming Democratic victory that would have made filibustering impossible would ramrod absurd amounts of legislation down people's throats.They have never seen a spending bill they did not like and usually add to

  Democrats and Republican members of Congress have no regard for any financial reality other than that which relates to getting re elected. Both parties have managed to destroy a country that was militarily and economically at the greatest advantage in history (Rome does not even come close with our position in 1945)

interesting that all the "Obama" stocks got whacked today...FSLR and other alt energy plays being the main ones.

must have been funds playing the election and bolting on the "news"

For sure, the smart money bought up the alt energy a few weeks ago and dumped it all Tuesday afternoon before everything closed.  At Wednesday's open, the only people holding alt energy were either investors in it "for the long haul" or "dumb money" that didn't see what was happening at Tuesday's close-----smart money selling to dumb money buying.
 
The stock market meltdown of last month assured on Obama victory.
 
Everyone and his dog know Obama would trounce "John McSame."
 
Personally, it won't matter a whole hell of a lot "in the short term" whether it'd have been Obama or "McSame."  The problem coming up is the massive dump of pink slips on the public as executives are going to slash and burn anything and everything that has the slightest bit of pork to it.  The scorched earth policy about to be implemented by corrupt and greedy executives who want to preserve their 2009 European vacation and 10,000 square foot addition to their mansion is going to crush the consumer and please "the Grinch" as Christmastime 2008 approaches.
 
Expect a cold, bleak, horrible winter, folks----and I am not talking weather, either.
 
Have no idea when, but you can also bet your bottom dollar that the lows of the market set last month will get a stern and harsh re-test.
 
Dem pres and Dem congress will eventually spell this----HYPERINFLATION.  No one except inside money is going to make much in the stock market in the 4 years to come-----best that "the little guy" can do is "try" to keep up with inflation and forget about growth.  In next 7 years, 150% inflation.  DOW 20,000 by end of 2014-----which is like DOW 8,000 in today's dollars-----and which is exactly where we will be a lot sooner than later.
 
Truly horrific times ahead for the economy.
 
Too many idiots and fools "congratulating themselves" right now on gas being 2 dollars a gallon.  What should be happening in this sad country right now is a "war on transportation," and we're doing nothing.
 
Thought the gas deal was bad this past summer?  You ain't seen nothing, yet.
