Just a guess, but maybe its the lack of infrastructure to make it viable as an alternative to oil right now. Cars are not equipped to run on nat gas (some buses/trucks are), there are very few nat gas stations to fill up at and on the whole nat gas fuel tanks cannot get you the same distance per fill up that conventional gas tanks can.
Unfortunately I think we would need sustained gas prices over $4 to cause a real shift from an oil based economy. Oil demand has only dropped by 2% in the US this year, with oil prices up 100%.

Yup thats my point if our country is so loaded with natural gas, then start spending the money now to convert what things we can to natural gas. Sure lots of things you cant use it for, but what can be used, we should start doing now. Like you said look at all the jobs and money that will stay in our own country. That sure could help to spur the economy. Its gonna be hard to get Americans to change their ways, unless gas goes to 10 bucks a gallon and if that happens, you can kiss our whole economy goodbye.

Pretty scary stuff. Maybe someday we will once again have leaders in our country who do the right thing for the good of all the people, not just themselves and special interests.

China is way ahead of us in this CNG game. I'm playing that via CHNG. should be nasdaq listed soon, good buying opportunity in my opinion. i made a lot of money on it in the china boom of last fall. I've been buying back in. read through their news history, you can't argue with what they're doing. Expanding as more and more cars, trucks and buses are using CNG in China.

not all beets in aamerica are sugar beets. only chance is sugar cane considering it has one of the highest energy yields and is much cheaper at the moment. Brazil has an over abundance of sugar cane hence cuba who doesnt even use all there sugar can they leave it to rot. as you people keep saying slow demand by making auto mobiles more efficient.. that is the only chance. the time is coming in 2010 from the auto makers.
