I don't play the stock market but I do listen to Kramer because I find him entertaining. Recently, I found out that many people who do play the market consider him just some talk head that makes loser picks all the time. This isn't helped by the fact the people who call in to praise him are usually of the intelligence of those that fall for Nigerian inheritance scams.
But seriously, is Kramer just some loud mouth that picks losers or pumps up a few chose stocks? He seems competent and did good work when he was a manager.

All jokes aside, Mr Cramer DID make a lot of money as a hedge fund manager with Cramer-Berkowitz back in 80s, 90s, and VERY EARLY 00s. And as you know, from '94 through '99, a fool could've trounced the averages when everyone and his dog was buying "Tech" like there was no tomorrow.
So take his success back then for what it was. Not to mention, he is a known liar and cheat who used all kinds of underhanded tactics with CB to beat the averages.
Yes, for sure, the guy is a crook/tout who cannot be trusted. And yes, it is also a documented fact that he "pumps and dumps" all the time from his show on CNBC and back when he was using "the street dot com" to do the same thing.
On a positive note, he is funny and entertaining........but for about 9 seconds before you find something better to watch on TV.
To sum up, pay not attention to anything he says about anything. Do not short what he touts, cause there are also a plethora of fools who follow the guy. No win situation unless you tune him out. He's no different than the icehole calling you up on Sunday morning trying to sell you some NFL "lock."
BTW, Cramer is a big time NFL gambler, too. Hahahahahahahaha

I think it's all very simple. Cramer tells people what they would consider logical. For instance the whole last week he was saying "stay away from financials". Average person would think "That's right" considering all that TV panic created starting from last friday. So thanks to Cramer smart money were able to buy all these stocks cheaper from scared public. The whole week he was advertising anything apart from the most profitable sector.
My view is that financials are the least risky assets since they would be the first to receive money and only then other sectors of economy will feel some relief.
Bottomline: He is doing this ON PURPOSE! The whole CNBC works for Smart money to fool the public.
Once you'll hear "financial system is as stable as ever" get away from banks!
