im planning on opening an online account to do some trades and i need to figure out which one to do....ameritrade, etrade, scottrade, etc???

If you want charts and level II action and good after and pre-market tools I would go with Ameritrade. If you want cheap trades, local offices and do it yourself go with Scottrade.

I think most people here are with one or the other. I dont like Etrade.

i&#x27;m actually with Etrade, and have no problem with it.  i don&#x27;t know anything else though, so i may be hurting myself.  but i make enough trades that they are all $7.95.  i don&#x27;t know where i&#x27;d do any better, once you factor in the trouble of switching the account.

Think Or Swim!  This is the best professional trading site!  You can trade stock, options, futues and fx.  Their platform is free to download and paper trade on.  The tools on the platform are so good you will think its a mistake that the whole this is free.  They will match any commision rate available from another broker.  And if you are an investools member, as i am, you get a reduced rate.  I pay $1.50 per contract and $5 pre stock trade.  Plus if you make 40 trades per month they send you a check for $40 to pay for your internet.  &#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;Their trade desk and customer service is top notch.  Call them anytime to even discuss anything from the platform to the trade you are about to but on.  They work with inverstools, red option / option planet so they are very educational based.  The offer free seminars all the time.  I cannot stress enough to check these guys out.  I used amitrade from many years.  But after being with TOS for the last year I&#x27;ll never use another "big box retail broker" again.
