need some advice

hey guys, i need some advice, probably some of you guys could help me, am 27 years old i make around 50 - 60 k a year, i have about 35k in my 401k and i just open an roth ira account!!

i see guys at my job over 55 still working their butts off, i dont want to end up like one of them, not that theres something wrong with working at an older age, i just picture myself retiring at an earlier age.!!! if you guys have any advice , i would appreciate it, thanks

If you're not already, make sure to max out your 401k each period.  If you can afford to put in 5k a year to your IRA as well, I would do so.  That is the safe way to go.  However, being that you're pretty young, I think you can afford to take some chances.  Open up a TDAmertrade or ETrade account and start playing stocks.  You don't need a ton of money to begin, maybe 2-3 k; not sure what the minimum deposit is these days.  If you're afraid of taking too much of a gamble, you can buy blue chips that pay decent dividends but may not blow up for you.  Either way, I would start investing now just so you can learn about it and be more knowledgable if you do decide to risk a large amount of money in the market at some point.

I started investing when I was 21 years old, and have been able to accumulate a decent amount of savings for my age.  I'm 29 and I got laid off several months ago, so I'm glad that I was able to save up some cash.  But as for what I would do in your shoes, I'd max out my 401k and start putting some money to the side to invest in the market.  If you need a tip on where to put your money, I feel that oil is the way to go for the rest of 2011.  So, you can invest in Big Oil, refineries, small exploration companies, or you can invest directly into an oil ETF.  But that's just my opinion.  GL in whatever you decide.
