with so many similarities between sports betting and the stock market, i am simply amazed that there is not more discussion about the financial markets

clear evidence that most people on this site are either dirt poor, highly uneducated, or perhaps a combination of the two.

sure its possible that people on this site use other forums for investment discussion, but why not just keep everything in one place

It takes more time and brains to trade stocks than to pick a team you like and bet it.

Of course there are similarities but most gamblers want an easy target, that is the difference.

You cannot day trade stocks or the Forex drunk, you can wager sports or shoot craps drunk.

My investments are long term...........no need to discuss them on a daily basis.

It's a little easier to trust betting a team you know something about than to trust a stock or fund that you really know nothing about, regardless of how much you've researched it. Much like most undisciplined/ unknowledgeable bettors, the streets are littered with broke day traders.

this is true, but do you see where i am coming from?  i guess it really comes down to most people who trade stocks have a penchant for betting sports whereas those who mainly bet sports don't necessarily invest

Covers is for my hobby and side income, sports betting...

The thought of bringing  my professional life into this forum in any capacity seems quite foolish.

If you are looking for a serious investment forum with serious traders and discussion. You don't have to look too hard. Just don't look here

The thought of bringing  my professional life into this forum in any capacity seems quite foolish.

If you are looking for a serious investment forum with serious traders and discussion. You don't have to look too hard. Just don't look here

i think most people that invest in sports wagers, keep their ledger in pencil

My personal approach is to find the best opportunity for yields parlayed with their correlating risks. I still think that, in the long run, the US fed gov is going to print their way out of debt. At the same time, we have to 'swallow the bulge' in our population pyramid, as boomers continue to hit retirement age.  Lubricating all these machinations is petroleum, which is at the dawn of a new age of consumption as the rest of the world enters the new technological age and wants to meet and/or beat the American standard of living, and suckingly enough, i'm of the opinion that we are past peak production, so it's not as simple as some might want to think as far as 'investing' into the future. Lot's and lots of unknowns

    i beg to differ

what you are suggesting is to mingle with like minded folk, probably not going to learn anything all that new or visionary

probably not going to do it here either, but at least you get a wide variety of minds, that all have an appetite for risk

So, are you dirt poor or highly uneducated?  Are you seriously going to call people out and insult others here when it looks like you rarely start meaningful discussions here???  Not that I am a financial guru, nor do I spend most of my time in this forum, but I do lurk here quite a bit and don't ever remember seeing a discussion started by you.  I'm sure  alot of people on this site do invest, but are less active than those like WSC.  I'm one of those people, but I bet I'm not only younger than you but I bet my bank account is larger than yours.  Take it easy, you’re not better than anyone on here.

im not saying it should be a serious trade discussion forum....im just surprised at how few action this forum gets.

I'm far from a serious trader, i just think its cool to throw out a few stocks you think could hit / it be cool to hear what some of you think not just in sports betting but in the financial markets as well

thank you, some one who sees where i am coming from....im not trying to attack anybody at all.  All i was saying is that i am suprised that with such a wide variety of gambling-centric minds who do happen to have an appetite for risk, we cant throw around a few stocks that may hit big.

just interested in seeing what some of you had to say

you gotta chill out buddy....read my post above

im not attacking anybody and really couldn't care if people are poor or uneducated.  I simply made a comment based on my analysis of this website.

I don't think im better, richer, or smarter than anyone else guy.  I like to bet on sports, the appeal of betting on sports and risking my money on something uncertain translates directly to the financial world, just thought i wouldn't be alone in that aspect.

stop taking shit so personally and lighten up, jesus

You're right, my apologies.  After reading your first post, it came off as pretty arrogant and sounded like you were putting others down, so I took offense to it.

Most people bets sports for recreation.  I don't think anyone trades stocks recreationally.

Also, most people with money have financial people or firms doing their investing for them.

Not many people have time to work a job, handicap sports, and research investments.
