Yes...Slowest front desk I have ever seen. Had a Bill jam in a machine and waited 20 min for someone to come over. Waited atleast 30 min between drink service. And the hamburger joint there was horrible. They need to blow that place up. No wonder rooms are 35 bucks a night there.

They recently renovated the rooms there, though I've yet to stay in any of them. In all honesty, I'm done with MGM Mirage until they get their shit together, if that ever happens. In the meantime, they're going to cut corners with seemingly simple shit like completely fixing gimpy elevators.
The morale is in the toilet and the employees are taking it out on the customers. I find that of all the MGM Mirage casinos I've been in the last year, the worst is Mandalay Bay. But in a modest defense of the workers there, it seems Mandalay Bay has become the haven for dipshits, douchebags, and supposed bad asses who think they're so damn important, and so they bring their 'tudes there and the employees simply reciprocate.
Sorry about your experience, catmur. Next time you're in Vegas, stay at resorts where there's little financial volatility, like the new M, Wynn/Encore, or Treasure Island, which was recently purchased from MGM Mirage by Phil Ruffin, though I've heard his 26-year-old Ukranian beauty queen wife has been terrorizing employees.

This was my first try in ten years at a MGM/Mirage property. The room, the bellman and the housekeeper were the ONLY bright spots. 8 hours into my stay I had to ask a BJ pit boss if the impending sale/bankruptcy was affecting the attitude of the staff and he denied any of it and said they were just rumors. I then asked is it a training issue and he walked away in a huff. I was not rude in the least, but I might have caught him off guard even though I can't believe I was the only one noticing.
When I finished for the night I sent an email from my room and recieved a call the next day. I had no plans on returning their call, I didn't want to get into a he said she said match, until I could not get off my floor for the second time due to no elevator working. I brought up my concerns about the attitude at all turns, the broken elevators, the sports book, the sports bar, the pool closed, etc.
In the end I don't know if anything was done about my concerns because I believe it is a system wide problem and it starts at the top. Extensive retraining is needed to keep all people happy. I was credited one night on my bill, but that didn't come close to making up for the fact we had to spend most waking hours away from the Mirage just so we didn't give them a dime extra above our room cost.
I did expect a follow up after the fact, but I guess they have decided that I am not worth having back. That just means I will stay out of all their properties around the country.
Looks like Wynn, M, Treasure Island, Boyd, Station, Hard Rock, etc for me.

Forgot to mention even the first and only restaraunt we went to at the Mirage, the Carnegie Deli was an issue, decent food, not so decent people working the place.

catmur, I applaud you for commenting on all of this and especially telling the pit boss. If this company wants any chance they are definetly going to have to change the way they treat guests and are running their casino.

Not only did I mention it to a pit boss, but I also spoke to the front office manager and except for one free night, (big deal my stay was ruined) I really don't think anything was done because I believe it is a company problem that has got out of control and anyone who stays at one of their properties will pay the price.

I just saw that MGM/Mirage were able to restructure their debt on the new City Center which means suckers like myself will have to go to the back of the bus while they look for new customers to fill the new 6000 rooms there. Hopefully they train their new employees just like the old employees so more people can be treated just like my wife and me.

Well it's been almost a week and not a single whisper from the dear folks at Mirage. I really did think they would do the right thing in the end. Take heed anyone who reads this and I will be making sure I tell anyone I can about my poor treatment there. My satisfaction will come out of costing them business.

The bad attitudes with employees is across the board in Las Vegas, well, at least most popular properties on the strip. The 20-something meatheads and/or silicone club types, have become the hiring norm. It's been my experience, that this is the root of a lot of problems. Customer service is out the window.
Not sure if the corps like MGM are responsible for this, although surely, it trickles down from the top. Apparently some corporate marketing cronie got wind that this is the type of employee to bring in business - wrong.
Even still, sorry you such a bad experience at the Mirage. I've only stayed there once, and I thought the room was great. Not so much with check-in or the VP machines.

Count me in, bro. Mirage is off my list.

I've never liked the Mirage, when I didn't live here I enjoyed staying at the Wynn and even though no one talks about it, the Monte Carlo is very nice too. Have yet to stay at the M, but I have heard it's amazing...
