That's what he means........if you're decent to the person behind the desk they will sometimes upgrade you,it's happened to me on several occasions and only once did I mention it.
If you're staying on a weekend though No upgrade for you.

Don't give anybody any money......just be very polite and ask them for the nicest available room. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Staying three nights doesn't help your cause. It is much easier to get a very nice upgrade when you're only there for one night. Point is, it doesn't hurt to ask, sometimes you get lucky.

Just slip the note next to your i.d and when you hand it to him say "are there any upgrades available". I would suggest a 50 at upscale places like the Wynn, Bellagio or Venetian, although a 20 might work. It is customary for them to only take the tip if they do upgrade you, unless they are complete stiffs or new, so you can't really lose.
