BIG BET IN VEGAS! NEED HELP! 3K BET!

Hi everyone,

I am heading to Vegas next month and want to place a big futures bet on the upcoming NFL season. I am placing 2 wagers on 2 different NFL teams for the number of wins they will have in the upcoming NFL season. Without saying which 2 teams I want to place my wagers on, I am not sure WHEN to place my bet. In total I will be placing 3 000 (hopefully at the same sportsbook, if all lines are the same with all sportsbooks) 

Question 1: Should I make my bet the first thing I get there? Or should I make my bet right before I leave Vegas? I want to know if i will receive any compliments (buffet tickets, show tickets, discount tickets . . .etc) Please let me know because it is my first time playing 3K on sports in Vegas and dont want to waste any opportunities with saving money on shows, buffets and discounted offers. 

Question 2: Do I ask for my compliments (assuming to question 1 is yes) before or after I make my wager?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don't think $3000 in NFL futures bets will get you anyghing comped. Maybe $3000 on the ponies would get you a free room or buffet,  but not NFL. I would still bet the money right off the bat if you know who you are betting though, as it wouldn't hurt your rating. Always use your players card when placing bets and ask for drink tickets

Books in Vegas do not comp sports betters.  They don't even keep track of what you bet on a players card like slots or BJ.

that is an inaccurate statement.  Comps are great on ponies

Also, they do track what you bet. Why else do they ask for your players card when placing a wager

As others mention, $3,000 won't get you anything on a sports bet. Be sure to show them your players card (they'll swipe that to show you're at least making your bets in this location for loyalty's sake, but won't get you any comps).

You might get a couple free drink tickets depending on where you bet.

$3,000, although large to you, is not a large amount of money in the grand scheme of how many people that amount on a given day.

Also, be sure to verify the bet limits on the futures wagers for NFL win totals.  Some books only accept lower amounts until closer to the season.  You may have to break that $3,0000 bet into 2 trips to the Sportsbook if necessary

99% of all books do not ask for a players' card under 5 dimes for a bet....99% of all books do not swipe a players' card for tracking, especially under 5 dimes for a bet (most books do not have the capability to swipe a players' card)....the most a book will comp on horseracing bets is based upon the type of bet, exotics will comp more in some books because they take is higher than on straight betting....so betting $500 to show, for instance, gets a lesser percentage comp than betting a $250 exacta box.

AND TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER.....Stop at an Mirage book, a Caesars book, a Cantor book, a William Hill book, LVH, and The Wynn.....get a copy of current future odds, then just shop the best line.

Only the small books ask for your players card, and even those that do, you do not accumulate points on SPORTS betting (not horse, which the OP is not asking about).  You are giving wrong and inaccurate advise to this person, not me.

No. I am not giving inaccurate advice. I said they comp ponies, never said anything about SPORTS!  Also, if you are saying Caesars Palace is a small book, then I will agree with you about only small books asking for cards. Heck they  even swipe my card for SPORTS bets at Ballys/Harrahs/Terribles/Golden Nugget. Please don't tell me I am giving out inaccurate info.

You accumulate points on sports at station casinos;however, that $3,000 he is betting is only worth about $3 and a stack of drink tickets. Same with Coast casinos they accumulate on sports bets and every 500 points is a dollar.

thanks for the reply guys, now lets discuss my future bets (i posted this in the NFL forum as well)

I really like

UNDER 5 JAGS (-115)

OVER 7 EAGLES (-115)

I am currently leaning towards risking $1725 on each team to win 1500. 

What do you guys think? 

I will make my bet once I get there, sign up for a players card and ask about getting compliments!

u missed the boat...jags bottomed out last year they could win 5 or surpass this year
