I live in the UK and recently had a good run in sports betting and so will be going to Las Vegas in December but I'm not sure about a couple of things.
Firstly, I will have a bankroll of $40,000 (all for sportsbook, not a fan of table games) . Would I need to have it in cash or can I pay for my bets using a credit/debit card? Also, how does an account work and can I create an account before I visit?
Secondly, before I make my picks, I do alot of research. Am I allowed to use my laptop in the sportsbook to do this or is not allowed?
Finally, does anyone have a link to an up to date guide to sportsbooks and general guide to the strip?
I have so many questions but would much appreciate if these could be answered... So excited!!
Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure a laptop is not a problem but may depend on the indiviual book..If that is a problem just use it in a restaurant nearby the book if youneed it that bad.
The other questions you should ask at wwwvegasmessageboard lots of UK residents on the site with experience in this sort of thing..(Opening an account, wiring $) Post it in the casino gaming forum
Don't have a link to the books, but keep in mind many on the strip are CET (Ceasars so you get the same lines at all places) Others are out there ,forget who MGM and TI are linked with but a simple search of all the casino websites will tell you for easier line-shopping..
Good Luck

Bets are cash/chips and you can imagine why they don't take checks/credit cards. You could take cash off your credit card for a fee at ATM.If you have your bankroll at 1 casino cage what good is it if you want to bet a line across town? I was living in LasVegas and my wallet was stolen(ID,SS#, credit cards, and papers) you want to know what a crimp that put in my style except I still was holding most of my bankroll in cash.Cash is accepted everywhere and I rec. you keep your cash on hand.
Some sport books use to not like cellphones inside the book and some may still be down on laptops but just go sit in the racebook where laptops are common and nobody will bother with you.

Whatever Hotel/Casino you intend on staying at is the SportsBook you'll be wagering at until further notice. What BIGfnPOO has informed you on is the universal formula for whales, and players who intend on playing dime action at the sportsbook. keep it simple; transfer your intended wagering funds from your Bank to the Casino Cashier...call them in advance tell them exactly what service you seek, they will direct you.... all the time...If you want a more personal touch, I would recommend you make reservations at the Westgate Hotel/Casino/SuperBook; ask to speak to Jay Kornegay, Director of the SportsBook, One thing for sure, whatever you do, don't get on a plane with 40k coming from outside the boundaries of the USA, that would be considered outright ludicrous...and costly..btw, phones are not permitted in any sportsbook in the state of Nevada, it's not a policy, it's the law, as far as laptops are concerned, sportbooks have their own systems, and WiFi is not available, therefore making a laptop useless within the confines of all Casino & sportbook area's

I use a phone and a laptop just fine a couple of months ago in September at Westgate. Most books have 0 problem with it the only thing you can't do is use or be on your phone and/or laptop while in line or at the wagering window.
I seen alot of people being told they cannot be on the phone while placing a wager but if you wasn't at the window nobody bother you.
All depends where you were staying but i used the free wifi i received as part of my resort fee perks and was able to access wifi just fine in the book with a laptop. Even had it plugged into their power sockets for extra juice.
Just sit within the racebook area and you will be ok.

Take your 40 Large and get travelers checks with it. They are cashable at any cage, they don't draw attention and they are refundable when lost.
Laptops are never a problem in a book. If you plan on using one you may want to consider going to the Wynn, they have individual outlet plugs for you laptop and individual televisions so you can watch what you want. I always see people with laptops there, the bar is right there as is two resturants. Its a nice setup, only problem is you dont want to wait til the last minute to make a bet since it can get crowded at the window.
Westgate is the mecca, I haven't been back there since the remodel (I don't know if they have even finished or not) Caesars is ok, Aria is small for me. Cosmo is too far away from everything.

Forgot, I would reccommend using chips if you have that large amount of money to play with. No matter what casino you use its a lot easier carrying around a few chips then wads and wads of cash, don't use a debit or credit card the fees to use it are a scam.

This is smart advice. You won't have to pay for rooms if you call ahead, and tell them how much you are playing. Wire the cash ahead to the cage

I was at the Mirage a month ago and the cage(cashier) would not cash a 5K sportsbook chip. I had to go back to the sportsbook to get it cashed. Also, I sat down to play blackjack with a $1000 sportsbook chip and they wouldn't let me use it to cash in with. As far as sportsbook comps, I played 17 games in 4 days for $5k to 7k each and all I got was an invitation to the superbowl party. I guess they wanted a shot at getting their money back. Even the manager told me I needed to play some table games to accumulate some comp credi and he couldn't do much for me.

Better question would be what are you doing hanging out on the forum you undercover coward pig?
I know you're working undercover.
So until you can tell me what comps you get for betting offshore (other than having your money and credit card info stolen from you by the crooks who work at these books) you can stop commenting on how poor Vegas comps are.
