I might take a day trip from LA this Saturday to get in some prop bets for the year, but someone told me they recently ripped up all the cushioned seats on the left side of the Sportsbook and they're installing desks just like on the race side of the book.
Personally, I think that sucks because I found those seats pretty comfortable, besides I hate sitting behind those racebook desks anywhere, as trivial as it seems. Well at least in my experience the racebook side is mostly filled with musty-odored, grizzled old coots muttering gibberish to themselves.
Anyway, I'm just curious because I'll probably spend the whole day there and lay some money on NFLx games, but if they're still working on construction, I'll just lay my prop bets then head somewhere else for the day.

Actually I was just there a few hours ago and NO they are not done yet but it is not going to be a bad as you think. The chairs they are replacing them with are real comfortable. Every "desk" has a 20inch flat screen with EVERY possible game you could want on it. The 2 main screens in the book are a flawless HD. Place is top notch.

Thanks. Maybe I'll head up there next weekend, by which time I assume it'll be done.
But what worries me in general is that on football Saturdays and Sundays just about every seat is going to be reserved for hotel guests and VIPs that request them. If they're offering that kind of experience, I don't see how they can't attract actual hotel guests who'd demand to have a seat there. About 4 or 5 times a season, rather than stay overnight on a Friday or Saturday, I just prefer taking day trips from LA (to get there by 9AM kickoffs, I have nice 4 AM wakeup and drive through the sunrise in the high desert), so hopefully, there will be plenty of seats for non-guests.
With that and live in-game betting and food service from The Vig Deli, it's nice to see a resort actually trying to optimize the sportsbook experience. Just about every place in Vegas doesn't give a shit about its sportsbook. From what I have heard in the past, most resorts would rather use that space for parking structures. At least M is trying to make it in a significant revenue generator.
