So i've been going to vegas once a year for last 4 years, usually play a little poker, bet on sports, and bj. Bets vary between $100-$1000 ...bankroll around 5k... is it worth getting a host?
i noticed that some posers said that some casinos comp for sports bets, how about MGM grand? i'll be staying there, should i call and ask? always wondered if its really worth getting your play graded but sometimes i am just to lazy and don't think i'll play that long...

with that kind of money, no. No host will pay attention to u. What r u looking for a host for anyway. I know a few good independent host that have contacts everywhere. Hilton is by far the best sportsbook to get comps. The pallazo sports bar is bar far the best place to watch a game.

If you play mainly at the MGM Mirage properties then just get the players club card and give it to the dealers whenever you play. A host will contact you if your play is graded high enough. I play mainly at NYNY and have a host through them (one of the MGM properties). I like having a host, its nice if you have any problems while you are there. I have had a couple dealers that were just total dicks before and I asked the pit boss to change the dealers out for me and told her my hosts name. It was done within minutes. Plus the hosts will set up everything for your trip and all you have to do is send them a quick e-mail with a couple details and its done. Also having a host doesn't cost you anything so I don't know why you wouldn't want one....

Are you playing 100 to 1000 per hand on BJ? Or normally closer to 100 per hand on BJ? I average about 200 per hand playing craps, bj and roulette and have a host, have a standing offer for comped players suite, 500 in promo chips, and get the offers for any/all events at the MGM properties.
Its all about your average bet and amount of time spent at the tables. So if you bet 100 per hand and spend 7 hours a day at the table each day during your trip, you can expect to get some nice comps. If you play 1000 a hand for 30 minutes get up and leave the table then don't expect anything. I have heard that the minimum is 4.5 hours a day to get rated. I can't speak about how your bets at sportsbooks count towards your comps, i would imagine not much, i would also imagine its not a lot for poker play either.

Exactly Depeche... I have gone to vegas with 1500 dollars starting bank roll and played for 13 hours (for the trip) at average of $200 dollars a hand. I got up big at some point and started playing bigger and bigger and thats the reason I had such a high average.
I have also gone with a 3000 dollar starting bankroll and only got in 5 hours (for the trip) at an average of $50 per hand. A lot of it depends on how well you do and if you keep playing....

When i play dice its usually 130-135 across with 25 passing and full odds. BJ 3 hands of 100 each. You get more bang for your buck at the palms than anywhere. I get a ridiculous room in the playboy tower comped. I usually ask for a $100 for the N9NE. My favorite part is the clubs. I'll tell a pitboss I need a comp for 4 to Moon and it's done in 5 minutes and you dont have to wait in line with a 100 assholes. I did have a trip there about 2 years ago where i won 36K so that might be jacking up my comps but they were taking care of me before that. Ask for Danielle.

Dimitry, I don't know if I would trust a host that is not part of a hotel. Especially one that could be being recommended by an internet scammer. I personally haven't heard of outside hosts and I guess they could exist and contract with hotels, but who knows. Just be careful.

This is all corporate out here & vegas has taken the worst dive in the country with the economy. If u dont believe me just look at the stock prices. I play alot at a few properties & they have gotten much cheaper on what they are givng back now. Also most host for hotels want handshakes for anything. Downtown las vegas, stratosphere, rivirera & a few other hotels like that will probably take care of u for that amount but the big resorts are cracking down. Remember the house edge in the casino is the worst in blackjack. Let me know if I can help while u r here.
