Harrahs, New York New York, or Golden Nugget?

Hey fellas I am sure most of you have seen my other thread...AKA "Cheapest Days to Visit Vegas?"

Well it turns out I am not staying at Bill's Gamblin' Hall anymore...based on numerous points that I will be using to cash in the hotel, the best 3 seem to be Harrahs, New York New York and Golden Nugget...I have always heard for your 1st trip you should always stay on the Strip. So I am thinking more Harrahs or NYNY, but I have read great things about Golden Nugget on this forum...so what do you guys think? Seems like Harrahs has a better location and no resort fee where as NYNY isn't in as a favorable spot and has an $18 a night resort fee...any feedback is really appreciated

Harrahs- right in the center of the strip. Mirage casino right across the street. Caesars forum shops right across the street. Cheap food court/mcdonalds/ casino royale right next door.Walking distance to a lot of the fun casino's.

Harrahs is relatively clean/nice I take it?

I was going to stay at Bills but actually read some HORRIBLE reviews...although, I still wasn't afraid to stay there haha...but if I can stay at a better place for free, why not?

Harrahs is a fucking DUMP! NYNY definitely cleanest. Nugget will get you more bang for your buck and is by far the nicest downtown property.

Nugget is awesome, try the lamb chops at Vic &  Anthonys, Lillie's is top shelf stuff as well

I like the location of NY NY myself. The rooms aren't bad either. MGM is right across the street.

I know you are a huge fan of the Nugget my friend 

But keep in mind I am 24 and am a Vegas Virgin...and from what I have read, most people recommend staying on the strip your first go around to Vegas....However, the Nugget hasn't been ruled out yet

Nothing wrong with the Nugget at all.....but do Fremont Street during the day for your first trip......

NY/NY is perfect.......across Tropicana Ave is The Excalibur which connects by free tram to The Luxor and to Mandalay Bay....

Next door to NY/NY is Monte Carlo which connects by free tram to Aria and Bellagio

Across the strip from NY/NY is the MGM Grand and The Tropicana...

Next door to Bellagio is Caesars and across the street from the Bellagio is Ballys and The Paris...

You don't need a taxi or bus and are barely walking...using the walkways and trams.....

NY/NY has the BEST food court on the Strip....Mexican, Deli, Fish and Chips, Burgers....the Irish Pub is excellent.....

...and the female age group tends to be under 30.....

Understood, enjoy your time, in hindsight would tend to agree with VGA and others, enjoy, where ever you land

I'm 26 and have stayed at Harrahs a couple times.  Love the location.  The food court is great, Carnival Court is a fun place to grab a drink, fairly centrally located for your walking around and touring.  Also has a stop on the Monorail which is great for heading to the LVH or down the strip the other way. 

Rooms aren't spectacular by any means, but its a comfy enough bed with a great location.

You can't really go wrong with either NYNY or Harrahs if you ask me, although I'm sure NYNY is a little nicer

Thanks VG, I didn't realize that access to the other end of the strip would be this easy from NYNY...i take it is more modern/nicer than Harrahs?

Ive stayed at both Harrahs and NYNY several times. Harrahs in my opinion offers a better location on the strip. NYNY is much nicer though, they just did a major remodeling two years ago so the casino is much nicer and hipper. Better crowd as well for a 24 year old. Pool is not great by Vegas standards but ten times nicer than Harrahs.

Haha no worries, in the GD forum I started a thread about people not tipping their servers, I got on there and vented and some ppl of covers showed their true character...(I am a server)...and 666LES is just being a sarcastic asshole.

Ive stayed at both and NYNY is by far the better property whether you are 21 or 61 its not even close in my opinion

I like the Nugget a lot these days, but if staying on the strip I would go with Harrah's

  asshole or not what you wanted to do was illegal even in Texas, maybe you heard of the Woolworth sit-ins of the 60's refusing to serve a party because they tip poorly or not at all did reveal true character on your part and a number of posters thought what it revealed was wimpy/cry-baby over reaction and you were pissed that your manager wouldn't agree to your personal freezeout? Vegas and Texas are full of grownups and you might follow their lead.

I am amazed that you are referencing a sit-in during the 60's. Lmao, wimpy/cry-baby? Why? Because I pointed out how shitty and pathetic some members of our society our? I mean, interpret it how you want but facts are facts and the fact is, the people I were referring to are just sleazy low lifes. The Woolworth sit-ins occurred because Negroes were refused service at the Woolworth lunch counters in the early 60's/50's.Laws were passed to make it illegal to refuse service,which is what you wanted to do.

Harrahs for sure.  Best location of the 3.  The rooms are clean and you are close to EVERYTHING.  Only bad thing about Harrahs is the pool.
